New door panel and dash, best quality?

I purchased the complete interior kit from USA1 Industries, made in the USA, and it is absolutely beautiful. It is pricey but includes everything, except trim pieces, and is totally original looking. Check it out.

    Horn button

I need an OEM horn button for a '84 Silverado in good condition (no cracks or scratches). I have a NOS button, still in the box, but it is a gold color and not silver. Not sure what year it was used for.

    Hood Question

Thanks everybody, I found an excellent original hood with the black primer so I told my paint guy to go with black epoxy primer and insulation over it. The hood still had all of the clips with the part number on each one and the holes for an emblem! Yahoo.

    Hood Question

My replacement hood is rusted out and needs to be replaced. What was the factory color for the bottom of the hood and was the insulation standard or an option?

    Cab Steps

That step looks nice Ron on what is, IMHO, a great looking ride!

    Cab Steps

The CARR step, which bolts to the rocker and is centered with the front edge of the seat, is a good deal forward of my gas tank which is under the long bed and behind the cab. This is the way I think I will go as I'm not quite sold on running boards, yet. If the step doesn't work well, I can...

    Cab Steps

Thanks for the picture although I can't make out all of the print below the shield.

    Cab Steps

Dysco, you make some good points. It looks like your truck is lifted. Mine is stock with no plans to change anything and only street and highway driving. I have a QX 80 and when she crawls into that thing, I notice she always steps on the running board in exactly the same place every time. Thus...

    Cab Steps

Dmack, I like the style on your truck, is there a name on them?

    Cab Steps

Thanks everybody for the suggestions and pics. I believe that hoop steps, positioned in just the right place, is the way I would like to go. The grab handle would really be the most help for her, I have the steering wheel, but I just don't know exactly where or how that would work. It would...

    Cab Steps

Hi everyone. It's been about a year and a half since I started this resurrection project and it looks like it may be close to completion by the end of the year. I'm going to need something to help my lovely wife for 54 years get into the cab for her first ride. She's only seen a picture of the...

What to do with gas tank vent when all emissions components are deleted?

When my truck is back on the road, I'm going to put my canister back on and reconnect the fuel tank vent line. Although a vented cap would probably be easier and just as good, like you, I don't know exactly what cap to buy that would fit and work properly.

    "84 Cab Wiring Harness

Thanks for sharing your experience Mike B and for the advise. The Harnessworx product is quite pricey but is definitely the way I would go if/when I decide to replace it.

    "84 Cab Wiring Harness

gmachinz, thanks for the reply, I'm going to talk to my body/paint guy tomorrow to see what he thinks about the replacement. In the meantime, I have a few questions about your harness: 1. My truck is an early model '84 C-10 Silverado that is fully equipped. The gauge cluster has a clock but...

    "84 Cab Wiring Harness

I'm getting ready to do a cab swap and was wondering if it would be prudent to replace the harness? All gauges, lights and accessories are currently working but the truck did sit outside in the same place for 13 years facing the west sun. I don't plan to upgrade anything and want to keep...

    Bumper guard install

I know this is a little late but I recently put some guards on my 84. The fixed bolt was twisted off on both of them so I had to drill them out and replace with carriage bolts so the rubber strips would clear. This gave me a lot of adjustment room. I also noticed that both pieces were marked...

    HELP with Shift Indicator

Charlie, thanks man, the video was exactly what I needed to see. My dash cluster is just like that one! This is an incredible website and an invaluable tool for all of us trying to keep these old machines on the road.

    HELP with Shift Indicator

Does the double wire (line) that is connected to the spring attach somehow to the cluster backing plate?

    HELP with Shift Indicator

The guts were missing on my column shift indicator so I ordered a replacement unit. I have searched both of my shop manuals for a picture of where the wire piece with the clip on the end goes but have found nothing. Does anyone out there have a photo of how (where) this piece fits? Thanks in...

    Pin Striping

Thanks Craig, I'll check it out. That fender photo of your truck is beautiful, I hope mine turns out that good.

    Pin Striping

Does anyone know if the original 3-line pin stripe is still available in decal form or will it have to be painted on? I have an early model '84 with orange color pin stripes. Also, what was the factory color for the valve covers on a 305? Mine are rusted and it's hard to tell. Thanks guys, I...

    Radio Blows Fuse

The original radio did not work and I found another one on ebay. That is the one I had checked out when the fuse kept blowing. You may be right about damaged wires so I plan to check that out. Thanks.

    Radio Blows Fuse

Thanks, that's what I thought so I will get someone to help me check that out. The truck has been sitting for 14 years with the original radio in it. No one has messed with it so I can't imagine what could have gone wrong with the wiring.

    Radio Blows Fuse

I have an AC Delco radio which has been tested at a local repair shop and shows to be in good operating condition with all four speaker outputs working. When I connect the three plugs in the back of the radio, along with the antenna lead, with the key in Acc the 15amp fuse blows when I turn the...
