Q: re - can anyone ID this ?

That absolutely is a regular ole 250 cu in straight six valve cover. For use with the integral head intake/exhaust setup. Cold air intake

Sorry to hijack your thread - As I look at this pic I am reminded of two things: 1 - Powertrain really screwed the pooch with that throttle body placement. It was good for them and a pain for everybody else. You can see that crazy upper radiator hose that it forced. If you look at the L18...

    Cold air intake

All of it: from ambient air inlet to the throttle body, for every engine combination. I shared it at first with another engineer but he was such dead weight it was easier to do it all myself. The pleating is different which allows for the different dust capacity. The filter expertise came...

    Cold air intake

Yes If you were to remove the coolant bottle you would find the tab fits on there perfectly. K

    Cold air intake

Yep. Same box, just different ducts to match up to the engine. K

    Cold air intake

Last one: The next hurdle was that the engine coolant overflow bottle was on the front of dash. That allowed the assembly plants to evacuate and fill the coolant system prior to fender install. With the battery now on the front of dash that meant the coolant bottle had to move somewhere else...

    Cold air intake

One more: I've mentioned before that water is the bane of any engine induction system engineer's existence. The problem with the GMT800 was that not only was the truck new but the engines were a new design, too. That meant there weren't many around and you sure as heck didn't want to damage...

    Cold air intake

For the '99 model year we had very stringent restriction requirements: no more than 1"Hg at maximum flow, from ambient air inlet to throttle body (original requirement from GM Powertrain: 1"Hg from ambient air to the intake valve - which is ridiculous and which we on the platform side could not...

    Cold air intake

I designed the stock GMT800 box to handle the L18 engine (1" Hg restriction from ambient air inlet to throttle body at 272 g/s flow). It overachieves for all the smaller engines. It was a very aggressive requirement. K

This one was dual tanks. All you had to do was check the box on the order form. K

    Big Block Headers

Agree. (C20 was the only Suburban variant that got a big block from the factory). K

Replacing Both Fuel Tanks on 1986 C10 Long Bed — Need Advice

yes, yes, yes, and 1987 was the first year for TBI in full size trucks so no baffles in 1986 model year tanks. K

    FUEL TANK CAPACITY 1982 K10 4x4

Long wheel base or short wheel base? Long - should be no problem, since it is a factory permutation that exists. Short - can probably be done (because anything can be done) but recognize you are deviating from factory offerings. K

What sizes were the original steel wheels on a 1986 Chevy D30 4x4 and anyone know what the backspacing is?

I probably personally installed the LH battery in your truck at the factory. I ran the fender set area in Flint when the CUCVs were built. We also installed the batteries and did under hood wiring but the operator on that job was too short. So every 12th vehicle I would have to put the battery...
