    Suburban Rear Cargo leaks

Resurrecting the old thread as after a car wash I found a small pond splashing around in a spare tire well. Are there any known working DIY fixes instead of replacing the whole gasket?

    700R4 Information Thread

Maybe an unusual question, but do you know what's the volume of fluid pumped by the oil pump in this transmissions? It's just out of my curiosity to undersand how the auto transmissions works and how efficient it is. By knowing volume and pressure (and pump efficiency) a hp loss can be calculated .

Oil Pressure Drops After High RPM

It's a recommended weight for 1990 350 TBI, So at least in 1990 they were designed for that oil weight It looks like there is way below minimum, if it's on a cold engine and it's parked on level ground then it's most likely what dipstick has collected from a dipstick tube on a way up. Once you...

Brought home my first square body. 1980 Silverado C10. Utah

As Ali said there are plenty of shows and YT channels focused on reviving old junk. Stay Tuned did a straight six Square body recently, Vice Grip Garage did plenty of revivals. There are couple of others, like pole barn garage, junkyard digs, etc, but i don't watch them frequently. The...

    RETRO-Mod: Jeep intermediate steering shaft

I will need to do something similar. I was turning wheel hard with engine off and managed to make it loose again. In the one I got shaft goes through rubber and ends with two "wings" on the joint side that would hit the yoke if the rubber would ever fail and would also prohibit the shaft from...

    Oil gauge issue

I've successfully used PTFE (aka Teflon) tape, not too much of it. Just verify with multimeter that there is less than 1 ohm between engine block and sensor body.

    European 86 C20 454

Both look great and in my opinion better than what you have now. I don't know if in 2WD 3/4 ton Burb track width is different front and rear, like in 4WD V1500, but if so you may consider different offset front and rear. I don't have that and as a result fronts stick out and splash mud and...

    Power steering too slow?

I think you may be right. But that pressure switch got me thinking if maybe retrofitting it may be a solution. The functionality is there already, a light green wire from A/C pressure switch to ECU to bump the idle up.

    Power steering too slow?

I get that pump spins slower, etc, but I've driven many cars with PS and never found a car where i'm able to spin the wheel faster than what power steering can assist. I recall that in one car I've seen a pressure switch in PS circuit which raised the engine speed when tuning wheel at idle...

    Power steering too slow?

When engine is cold and RPMs are bit higher at idle I can spin the wheel faster. Let's say that you attempt to enter a 190 cm / 6'3" parking lot with your 195 cm / 6'5" truck because surely there is some margin, but apparently there isn't and you need to back up and make a 9 point U turn on the...

    Power steering too slow?

Is it normal that the power steering is really slow in our trucks? Not weak, but slow? It makes maneuvering so slow. What I mean is that going lock to lock quickly is not possible, at idle I can spin the wheel with minimal effort up to certain angular speed, but not faster. It's like the PS pump...

Need help with regards rear ac

It connects to the plastic cover that I guess you are missing. That whole large mostly trapezoidal "decorative" cover that bolts with 3 screws at the back and couple of metals screws up front It doubles as a drip pan. Condensate drips on a plastic cover and them drains to the right side and down...

    Door striker question

They all should have bushings. Strikers can and should be adjusted to make the doors close correctly, otherwise you'd wear a bushing or a PEX tube prematurely. I managed to cut through a PEX tube on a sagging door.

    Front bumper opinion on position

Mine sits about the same distance from the body, enough to expose the edge to get a foot grip when working on the engine :D Maybe the very tip is pointed a tiny little bit up which would suggest that the whole thing is slightly tilted?

I wonder if a cat converter is N/A for this model year and "heavy duty" would putting any cat converter in fail the test? Because this sounds like a simplest solution to get the HC down. I'm running high flow Magnaflow cats in all my past and present Japanese cars to get rid of the smell and...

1990 Suburban oil pressure gauge only reads 30 PSI

I didn't use any additional thread sealer other than a tiny amount of blue stuff that came on the threads of a new unit. I did remove my sending unit and checked it with air compressor, finding out it's quite inaccurate especially in low pressure region and more likely calibrated to 0-90 PSI...

Cruise control works for a while then starts to lose speed

A new issue surfaced: I had a sudden acceleration from cruise control, so I decided to finally investigate the servo. Based on this Youtube video slowing down like I had before is usually a case of a dirty release valve. I suspected that acceleration could be caused by dirt in a vacuum valve...

Seatbelt construction & repair (with pictures)

My right middle row seatbelt in 1990 Burb was not retracting due to rusted parts. I didn’t find much details online so I used this occasion to look inside and document it for whoever may need in the future. The cover can be removed by unclipping bottom part which swings open and then by yanking...
