Stolen truck found after 30 years

There's always the Wyoming loophole. (I'm glad I don't live in California).

    The Quest For Overdrive . . .

Okay, after driving this thing 437 miles trouble free miles over this long weekend, I REALLY want an overdrive now. And I think this is going to be my cheapest option. (They want too much for this one) I'm not 100% sure, but I've heard that some of these R10's are the same length as my...

What have you done to your square lately??

What have I done to me square lately? I beat the ever-living piss out of it chasing some tornadoes back on Sunday.

    The Quest For Overdrive . . .

I' not quite sure about the gearing, but I'm assuming 4:56 since it was an old tow truck. With the SM465 having the low first gear I wouldn't have any trouble leaving off, and a 3:07 in 4th gear would be a little better on the highway.

    The Quest For Overdrive . . .

Yeah, I'm already running 31's on there. I'm thinking that I should just pick up an SM465 then put a 3:07 in the rear.

    The Quest For Overdrive . . .

Yeah, the Clark would not really be viable unless I regeared. If I can talk the guy with the Saginaw down, I might pick it up (Even though it's rare, I think I could get it cheaper).

These days, I've been going back and forth between my '92 Jeep XJ and '82 Dodge Aries for daily driver use.

    The Quest For Overdrive . . .

As mentioned in the very first post on this thread, I know of a Saginaw 3 speed Overdrive transmission for sale that I could buy. I also have a Saginaw 4 speed 2 groove (I think 3.25:1 first gear) so concievably I could combine them both into one transmission (I've heard of people doing it). Or...

    The Quest For Overdrive . . .

With the NV3500, I'd have to convert over to a hydraulic clutch which I really don't want to do. NV4500's on the other hand are pretty damn expensive at least around where I live ($1500-$2000).

    The Quest For Overdrive . . .

Yeah, I put a floor shifter in it years ago. I've driven a few SM465's and it's not really the type of driving experience I'm looking for in this truck. I might just put the whole Overdrive thing on the backburner and tear apart the M21 since it's as close to a direct swap as you can get...

    The Quest For Overdrive . . .

I got a '98 Suburban and an '01 Blazer both with NV3500's swapped into them, and I gotta say that I'm not the biggest fan, but they aren't too bad. Both of them probably need rebuilt (Input shaft bearing noise, bad syncro's, exc.) but I've still managed put a combined 50K on the two of them in...

    The Quest For Overdrive . . .

Yeah, but the M21 would hold up pretty well in this application, and it would be little more fun to drive.

    The Quest For Overdrive . . .

I'm already running a 31 inch tire, and I was thinking about a SM465. I also have Muncie M21 laying around that probably needs gone through (I bought it a few years ago thinking it was a Saginaw 4 Speed). To install that all I would need are a some new shift rods since my shifter came from a...

    The Quest For Overdrive . . .

I agree that the T5 is a pretty easy swap, I'm just a bit worried about longevity in this application. I want to tow a car if I have to, or load the bed of the truck up with scrap metal. I've abused that little Saginaw quite a bit over the years, I don't know if a T5 would hold up.

3 Speed Manual Column Shift Linkage Interchangeability

I converted to a floor shifter, and I think I still have my old shift rods laying around. It's been like 5-6 years, so I'll have to see if I can find them.

    The Quest For Overdrive . . .

Now that 'Ol Yeller has a half decent motor in her again, I REALLY want overdrive. Currently she's got a 250 I6, Saginaw 3 speed, and a 3:55 Posi. It's not too bad on the highway, but I'm planning on driving the piss out of this thing this summer and OD would be nice. I'm not made of money, so...

    Worn out 250 Straight 6

Looking back at this thread, I just noticed that the first image of it was taken at the shop I now for (A wonderful privately owned shop, with a very loyal customer base). I remember asking advice from my now boss while I was still in high school.

    Show your daily driver

For some messed up reason, I decided that I needed a K-Car More specifically, an '82 Dodge Aries with a 2.2 and a 4 speed. I really just bought it for entertainment purposes, but somehow I've put 800 miles on it in the last month. This thing had sat since 2009, and I barley did anything to it...

As some of you might know, I recently picked up a new daily driver (like 4 months ago. This mint '01 S10 Blazer. It's been pretty nice to me so far this year. I've already put 11k on it since I bought it.

    Boat Motor In My Studebaker.

So as some of you my know, I just happen to own this really solid non running 1951 Studebaker Champion Starlight Coupe. I originally bought it with the aspirations of getting it on the road while keeping it original. Unfortunately parts are very expensive and damn near impossible to find, so I...
