    That’s an excellent theory! I saw the rod and wondered about the fact I didn’t see the mounting pad on the side of the tcase but I figured it might be some 241 voodoo (I’m not very familiar with them). A flipped case and an oil pump hose would be some pretty cool home brew mods.

    I’ve never seen that mod before. Sometimes people add a hose like that but it’s clear so there’s an external way to see the fluid level. Look at that round tag in the center of the rear side of the tcase body, this will identify the model of the tcase (ie; 208, 241, etc).

    The surface in the one pic looks fairly rough but it’s not heavily grooved, etc. If it was a toy / weekend warrior type truck I’d run it. If it’s a daily driver I’d fix it.

    What do you do with the truck? Is it a daily driver or a toy? Personally, unless it was my wife's daily hauling kids, if it feels minimal I'd probably polish it up with some emory cloth, put a new bushing & spring in it and run it.

    FYI, @KShorthairs the bump stop pictured in post #9 is typical for squares. Some of the bracket is covered by a tar paper flap / splash guard (not used all years) that is attached to the metal wheel well. If your bump stop is different post a pic, it’s likely something a previous owner added.

    Ground to fender or bumper measurements aren’t consistent because of their built in adjustability and possible body bushing sag.

    A stock height truck measures 8.5” between the top of the front axle tube and the bottom of the frame, any difference is the amount of lift.

    Have you located a connector for the distributor? I’m not sure what your connector is for but the fusible link makes me think it’s for the distributor.

    I use the 2 qt filter because A) I have to buy a filter anyway and B) an extra qt of oil doesn’t hurt anything.

    Yeah, it’s clean and changed regularly. I change the oil in my Blazer yearly because it only accrues 200-300 miles per year.

    This ^^ NP203 shifters are notoriously problematic, there’s a much MUCH greater chance it’s a shifter issue.

    I prefer stock but the most I'd suggest doing is just blacking out the grille (leave the headlight bezels gray). I've never likes the total blackout because from 100' you might mistake it for a beater with no grille or anything, just headlights on a core support.

    @Hilllbilly I’ve owned mine since new and the mileage has been pretty consistent, there’s nothing wrong with the truck. A couple of quick searches on Cummins forum and DTR show my results are fairly average.

    No offense but I’d have to see that hand calculated in person. I’ve got an 06 2500 4wd Megacab w/ 6spd & 3.73’s, I’ve never gotten better than 16.5 (hand calculated since new). My overhead instant average always displays approx 6~7 mpg’s high.

    What are these “mpg’s” you speak of? :D Something else you should know about fuel gauge operation - 1/4 to E does not move proportionately with F to 3/4, that last 1/4 to E is way faster!
