What should I do with this toolbox?

I wish you were closer, I’d love a top box like that. When I first started buying tools I bought a top and bottom like that but a couple of years later I traded the top for more tools, I figured a full(ish) bottom was better than a mostly empty set.

What new tools have you got lately?

I grabbed me a set of Snap-On scrapers last week, been wanting a set forever. These were about 40% cheaper than average but I think it was because of the gray handles. I don’t have anything gray nor have I ever seen this color so they’ll make a nice addition to my hard handle collection.

    2 inch Body Lift

I ran a 2” body lift for years with zero problems. There is a few inches of overlap on the steering shaft so it can extend AFTER the two plastic plugs at the joint have been removed. These plugs can be drilled out or melted out with a torch, simple job. That said, if you’re doing anything...

    1990 Crewcab Parts Interchange

‘87-‘91 square bodies are “R” (2wd) and “V” 4wd series, beginning in ‘88 the new body style GMT400 took over the “C” and “K” series designations. Most of the parts from ‘81+ interchange thru ‘91 unless it’s related to a system that’s not shared with all years, like your fuel injection. The...

    Stuck spindle bearing help

I realize there are a lot of tried and true methods but if you have something long enough with a bent/turned edge that can get behind the bearing race you can knock it out in literally less than a minute.

    Stuck spindle bearing help

I’m pretty sure Lisle was the original maker but Snap On and Mac sold them as well. They were available forever at parts stores under the Lisle brand (mid 80’s+), I have a Blue Point version because a Snap On guy I bought from had it and nobody knew what it was for. lol He sold it to me cheap to...

    Stuck spindle bearing help

Find a long, old flat head screwdriver and bend the last 1.5” to about 45°. Insert the bent screwdriver through the outboard end of the spindle, catch the inner lip of the bearing race and drive it out.

    Zero rates

Push/pull steering and 44’s is fine, if it’s wandering I’d look for loose parts or caster out of spec.

    3 speed on column

I’m sorry I don’t have any info but I’m interested about the truck. It’s an ‘85 with a 4.3 and 3spd on the column? I never would have thought that would have been available. 2wd or 4wd?

    87 dually 1 ton brakes

The hoses may interchange if the banjo bolts are coincidentally the same but 1 ton brakes very different, 1/2 and 3/4 tons are the same.

    87 dually 1 ton brakes

That ‘87 R and V series stuff confuses a lot of folks and sometimes the parts catalogs. You might consider looking for parts for an ‘85, they’d be the same.

    all time 4 wheel drive

That is definitely an np203 shifter and it is definitely not original to that truck. The last year the np203 was used (by manufacturer) was 1979. The only tcase offered in an ‘85 K10 was an np208.

    73-75 k5 door inner braces

@nskeeter99 where exactly is it tearing? By chance do you have a pic? Here’s the brace - Here’s a link to an album I have that includes pics of the inner brace behind the door handle (both installed and removed). [/GALLERY]']Door conversion pics That said, the brace is not wildly...

    Reverse rotation water pump

Or you could get a billet neck (because shiny) that points straight up and run a sbc upper hose.

    Zero rates

Do you have more lift already? Crossover requires at least 3” (preferably 4”) lift if I remember correctly.

    Over heating starter

Agreed. No way I’d wrap used headers that have certainly already burned all the paint off.

    Over heating starter

Find a starter heat shield, easier than wrapping headers.

    Reverse rotation water pump

I used a Kwik Performance adapter kit to put a small block serpentine set up on the 454 in my Blazer, it works great. I had the serp brackets powder coated glossy similar to their original bare finish color. Everything is tight together , not all stretched out unnecessarily wide. Here’s a...

What new tools have you got lately?

These replace a regular clamp, correct? I’ve seen other similar ground magnets and wondered how well they’d work.

    Help with gear size please

I’d go with at least 4.56. If it were mine I’d run 4.88 or 5.13.

Help identify this np205 transfer case

The adapter will look very similar but it’ll have a square 4 bolt flange on the trans side (should be a th350). The tcase will also be 27 spline, the 10 spline was only used with 4spds.

Help identify this np205 transfer case

IMO, $150-$300 depending on demand. The 10 spline version is probably the most common and doesn’t bring as much value as a 32 spline unit.

Help identify this np205 transfer case

Like I said, GM unit. Only Ford used left hand front output.

    Question about lift height

I’m sure it could vary a little based on front spring options (2 or 3 leafs) but 8.5” is pretty reliable.
