Yes, like anything from the internet can be wrong, the pictures linked show the gauge faces from the different years. That might be useful for someone trying to match what they have.
Some medium duty square body trucks with 6 cylinder diesel engines would have a 0-4000 RPM tach.
Signal generator installed in a fuel injector line.
0-4000 RPM tach
No, the tachometer RPM = rotations per minute. Every engine rotation on a 4 stroke V8 engine fires 4 times. 6 cylinder 4...
Yes, whole series of Turbo Diesels. That tracked crawler was my son's, hardly used compared to the dump truck and mixer. I unearthed it from the junk pile looking for something else. My grandson will be the next one to put it in service.
Between 1/4" and 3/8" is 5/16". Get a piece 5/16" key stock.
Grainger, NAPA and others have it. Hacksaw a piece off and use a 12 point socket or open wrench. You can also buy female square sockets. The key stock works like an allen socket.
That space is where your sub-woofer goes. One 12" duo voice coil speaker. Air space is correct. Pulled it out to swap the speaker, someone played it too loud!
Early Squares had a Fridgeaire pump and a POA valve. They did not use a recycling pump clutch, when you turned it on the pump was always on and the POA valve kept the evaporator from freezing. These systems got very cold! Here is some info:
POA – Knowing These 3 letters May Help Keep Your A/C...
Confirmed!
My GMT400 3500HD twin winch NoMar wrecker.
I added the auto-loader on the 6000 lb. wheel lift.
This was also the Indianapolis 500 edition from No-Mar. You can see the logo under the American flag.
To make that C65 fuel gauge work correctly, remove the resistor bolted to the back of the gauge, replace it with the resistor from your original fuel gauge.
The variable resistor in the C65 tank has a longer range of resistance (longer movement). The different resistors have a different color...
If you are running wires to a switch by the oil filter, make sure you cover them with a heat shield covering. Wires near the exhaust will not hold up well over time.
First thing to check, the cap and rotor. The rotor can burn through, look at the carbon contact under the coil too. It should poke down through the cap.
Where is your factory oil pressure switch? Down by the oil filter or at the top of the engine behind the intake manifold? Oil filter location is 1/4" pipe, up top is 1/8" pipe.
Clocking a 10SI. Remove the screws holding the back half of the aluminum housing to the front half. The stator needs to stay with the back half, it is hard wired to the rectifier. If you start to pull it apart and the stator (metal) between the to halfs sticks to the front, pry it out of the...
I'll jump in here. First, that alternator is NOT clocked right for your application. The Alt. hot should not be able to hit anything when moving it for adjustment. (more about clocking in a moment)
Little tease.. you didn't do so well changing the belt. Now in your defense, previous owners have...
Yes, like this ^^^ and the oil fill cap has the breather.
Only engine I know of that had 2 PCV valves was the GMC 305 V6. Under the sealed valve covers, one screwed into each head. Oil fill tube in the intake manifold casting with a vented cap. This engine also had the spark plugs on the intake...
You probably can't see it in the diagram I posted, the oil tap for the converter uses oil as it comes back from the cooler. This is the coolest oil in the trans and another good reason to add an extra trans cooler when towing!
Here in Pennsyltucky, any trailer over 3000 lbs needs brakes and a brake-a-way system. All wheels need brakes. Years ago trailer brakes were only required if the trailer weighed more than half the towing vehicle weight. This led to confusion and misinterpretation.
Trailers over 3000 lbs need a...
Some states may have different laws for trailers. In Pennsylvania every heavy trailer wheel set are required to have brakes. Some states may only require one axle, not both.
When the forum members are talking about fuel injection and other items I don't know enough about, I keep quiet. When...
^^^This is simply not true.
^^^ This is also wrong! Current from the towing vehicle brake controller through the trailer plug direct to the trailer brakes.
Yes, heavy trailers have a battery. This is for the trailer brake-a-way system. Should the trailer become disconnected, the brake-a-way...
@grummy
This is the best I could find. The key shows converter and lube. (dotted red line). The lube is on when converter is locked. Forward to the converter in the shaft. Back all the way to the overdrive gear set.
I would recommend fixing the tip-in vacuum and brake lever switches. If you dash switch it locked, engine stalls when you arrive at a stop. This is not good either. You will get tired of switching it on and off.
Early squares with locking converter, have two brake lever switches. One for the...
@jbro1988 Welcome to the forum. Your question is difficult to answer because GM made changes in the 700R4 almost every year they used it.
You may have already read somewhere that if the lockup isn't working, the trans can fail. The vacuum tip-in switch is very important. As stated in this...
