    I almost bought a twin screw 1981 GMC with a Holmes 850 twin boom but I could not find a place to store it. Couldn't park it at he house. It was cheap enough. Would have been a truck show piece! It was hiding, but I found it!

    Yes, garage is so full I work in the driveway. Winter time is a drag but more room outside. So I guess it qualifies as a mobile cherry picker, 1955 Holmes 330 bed accessory to go in my 1956 3800 long bed.

    Questions, 1973 has the fuel tank on the passenger's side? Newer truck, door and filler on driver's side, or duel tank, filler on each side. 1973 tank fitting is smaller than the later models, do you have a newer tank?

    Ty-Wrap tool, sold through Thomas Betts. Pulls them tight, cuts them flush.

    There are two types of factory window gaskets. One uses a separate lock bead. The other type has the lock bead molded to it. The after market rear window I installed used the factory gasket.

    I believe the converter spline count changed when the pumps were updated. Original 700R4's had less vanes in the oil pump. Just a couple years after the first 700R4's hit the road, the pump rotor has more vanes. 7 to 10 vanes? I forget.

    Bought a very small set of side cutters to open up heat shrink wire harnesses. Using a knife and not cutting 20G wire is hard to do. The heavy duty wire crimpers are also a newer addition.

    That's what I did too. I did put the correct speedo gear in the trans to match my 2.56 to 3.42 swap and tires.

    You totally missed my reference. Many stated rear gear swaps. I'm sure many are not running stock tire diameter either. What is the diameter of a stock G78 tire on a 15" rim? You would almost have to run those 20" rims with no rubber to match the stock tire diameter.

    8 pages of fuel mileage. My question, are you all using an app to calculate miles traveled? Back in the day fuel number could be all wrong if the speedo was not re-geared. @Soundmound 's use of 20" tires is a good example how many mods these trucks can receive. Skimming through these 8 pages...

    That is the best reason to use the master cylinder lid bail wire. With the compound bend, you can push the lock button at the same time to open the '81 up squares too.

    That is all the larger it needs to be. Slight pressure build as the trans cases heat up. Slight vacuum as it cools. On the transmission it also severs as an oil release if too much oil was installed, which is never good for an automatic trans.

    Those speaker panels were not available when I installed the stereo in my truck. Front speakers mounted in the doors. Two more behind the seat in the cab corners, in custom mounts. Also bought a book, and built a sealed sub-woofer box. Amplifier under the seat for the sub. All Sony equipment.

    The large Detroits were factory equipped with 2 engine stop cables. The E-stop pulled a pin out of a spring loaded flapper plate. The engine could eat it's self if you weren't able to stop the fuel. Always loved the sound of a running Detroit! The company had a few 8V92TA's in the large Autocars.
