Components Speakers (Tweeters in the dash?)

David, you asked about dash speakers. You and Todd are both right. I went a different direction. No kick panel speaker pods were available when I put my system together. I cut holes and mounted speakers low in the doors of my brand new 1982. All high end matched Sony equipment, best I could buy...

Components Speakers (Tweeters in the dash?)

Clutchfield has speakers that fit the dash of your truck. CLICK HERE You need a way to balance the front and rear speakers. Does your stereo have 4 speaker outputs and a balance control? Or can you do it with the extra amp?

    Mystery Plug

Yes, as stated choke wires to the pressure switch. The light goes out because there is less resistance to ground through the choke coil when the oil switch closes. The choke light acts as a flame out light when the engine stalls. Also lights with low engine idle because how the choke light gets...

    OE 73 Jimmy parts

I am guessing you don't know if the AM/FM stereo radio works? With the cracks in the dash at the mounts, the rear support bracket was removed at some point. Those old radios were heavy and needed to have the rear support.

What is holding my rotor on?

Maybe not 2 nuts. Could be assembled with 1 Nylock nut. Then it should have a metal lock that fits in the keyway, and part of it sinks into the nylon of the nut. Need to tap it in with a punch. Fords have been using them for years. I don't care for them, but it is what it is.

What new tools have you got lately?

When I started out, an old mechanic told me to buy the Vise-Grips with the straight jaw. I've had them 50 years. Lock them on, and beat them with a hammer more than once. Still got them, working fine!

    Squ-Air Compressor

Stupid money for the Etsy listed gauges. They can ask it, don't mean they'll get it. I got a cool old gauge from a plant I worked at installing a new compressor system. I use it at work when I need it.

What is holding my rotor on?

That is two pieces, a drum and a hub. Held together with 8 lug nut studs pressed through the drum into the hub. The OP does not understand what he has if he calls a drum a rotor. Pictures may help, with the drum and hub removed this is what you have @USAROVER This picture of a C10 the...

Did I ruin this pinion bearing?

Very special radial bearing. For anyone that doesn't know, that style bearing allows a bent shaft to rotate freely without destroying the bearing. Bent shaft you say, well the load applied to the chain or gear drive is so great, it flexes the shaft slightly when rotating. David, by the size of...

Thermostat housing 2 ports what are they?

Loren, your first picture thew me off. Looking at the vacuum diagram, your truck should only have one TVS, (Temperature Vacuum Switch) mounted in the cooling system. As Rick stated, it operates the heat riser at the exhaust. Just for clarification, the other TVS mounted on the air cleaner...

    Subwoofers

This definitely counts as past. Many years ago I bought a book on building speaker enclosures. My father helped me with the wood cutting, he had the power tools. 3/4" Fin Form plywood, 13 layers, very dense. Covered the outside with gray vinyl that matched the seat. The aluminum front I set up...

Thermostat housing 2 ports what are they?

That is a temperature controlled vacuum switch. In your picture it is missing the plastic hose connection. This picture shows a different mounting, best I could find. The vacuum switch is part of the Trapped Vacuum Spark control that your truck had when new. Keeps full distributor vacuum...

    No brake lights

Yes they all have a ground from the lamp housing to the truck bed. Issue is the bed is bolted on the frame and rust forms. The bed can loose it's ground connection to the frame. Seen it happen more than once. Will drive you crazy with what will light up the wrong time. If your truck has a...

I want one with the tailgate, no barn doors. The L59 would be just fine, no oil burner either.

    Fuel return changes?

1974, as you know does not have a fuel return, does not need one. Would be necessary if you are not running a carburetor and have fuel injection. See the small hole on the top of the pump, that is the diaphragm vent. Allows the diaphragm to move freely, vented to atmosphere. Old fuel pump...

What new tools have you got lately?

Not a new tool, but one of the tools to have, and hope you don't have to use it. Walton tap extractor, need the match for the broken tap. Needs to match the size and fluke count. Today was the day to dig the extractor out of the tool box.
