Any pics of the truck before you started working on it ?

    Inset door on blazer

Hi - great truck, very jealous! , However the full roof blazers are about the weakest and most prone to body movement of all truck bodies, as there is no upper roof to tie everything together. Before you can even try to get good panel gaps, you need to make sure there is no corrosion in the...

Howdy, from down South in Texas

Sweet ride dude, and love the colour. Also - ( we do have "Roos", Wombats and Kookaburras too ... )

    Kent Moore Tools

I have tried from the other direction - ie. when looking to complete a job, I look through the GM assembly or maintenance manual. They tend to list what factory tools are required. Then, if I need something special, I try and find it through Google images and / or C/L or Ebay. for example bought...

Bump ... love this build - any updates and pics ??

    c20 suspension to c10

Agreed - only advantage is that you can leave the engine / box in whilst you do the swap ( which may help some folks ). In this case the OP is doing an engine swap and needs access to the frame rails, so ...

    c20 suspension to c10

Or go with the 1 ton front end, and 14 bolt rear ;-)

    c20 suspension to c10

I went the other way and traded out my C20 running gear ( 8 lug ) for C10 ( 5 lug ). The front cross member is the same, and if I remember correctly the only difference is in the stamped arms. They hold larger ball joints for the spindles, and also the routing for the flexible front brake hose...

    Bed mounts?

I know high on my list would be a '73 GMC Jimmy 2wd in omaha orange / white 2 tone, with a 454, 4 speed, bucket seats and the "super sierra" trim package ...

    Bed mounts?

we should start a "time machine " thread - if you could go back and order off the oem factory build / options sheet at your dealer - what year / model / options and colors would you have ??

    Gas to diesel

so many ( diesel ) options ! .. Strangely over here the 6BT is much more common than the 4. Looking at a DCEC 6 now for around 4K. All the Chev diesels are worn out and need a full rebuild on top of the purchase price. Cummins may do also, however I suspect they will stand up to a bit more abuse...

    Chuck’s engine build thread!

My wife would kill me if we did that. Its the only "nice" vehicle we have ! ...( she won't drive any of the trucks ...)

    Gas to diesel

any existing threads on the Cummins 2.8 swap? Have been interested in these when looking at a 4BT ...

    Chuck’s engine build thread!

Interested what your guy says about the cam bearings. We always look to get the block hot tanked when doing any machine work, and that requires removing and re-setting with new cam bearings. I have heard some say "never remove cam bearings" as they can result in mis- alignment, however not had...

Hi - any chance you would be up for mailing me the grille if I cover the costs ? Also what badges did it have ( ie. any of the old Jimmy script ones ? ) - Thank you.

    ALDL data logging

In other news, - after a reasonable amount of online "research" - stumped up for this repro TEC 2 scanner. Wont do ALDL, but for later GM models. Specifically got this to read GM Holden codes for my boys rides. We'll see how it goes I guess. Will report back..

    84 c10 4 speed manual, rpo code MM7

Not really - I am a manual man, and always interested in manual conversions for the BBC or SBC for 2wd "sport truck" applications ( not towing or hauling ). Never heard of the Chryco 833 fitted in a GM truck before tho'. Really interested to know more, although current conversion offerings seem...

Mounting new doors before welding in rocker

Ahh - the old "my panels don't fit " question. Firstly, be aware that they didn't always fit that good from the factory. Todays "laser straight" panel gapped euro cars did not exist with the 70's and 80's technology. Secondly, as the article above points out, the cheapest time to fix everything...

    Recommendations?

TRi-power, Tri-power all the way - and PICS !!! OMG that is the ultimate set up - 3 x 2 on a big block, either 435/427 or a 455 pontiac - AWESOME !! The ONLY advantage to running a sniper over the tri-power setup is that if your truck got stolen, you would not be so upset .... If you are...

    84 c10 4 speed manual, rpo code MM7

Keith - we need more details on the transmission please ! read your post on speccing and buying your truck new - that was so cool! The 833 4 speed with O/D gears was a New Process box used in the dodge muscle cars of the time no? I never heard of them being available in GM trucks - only the...

    I fount this, any ideas?

OMG - I see humanity splitting into 2 distinct different species in the next ( 3 - 5 ) years - those that remain connected to reality, and everyone else that is disappearing up a virtual A*****e That pin by the way was developed by GM to hold an accessory battery pack into the back of your...

Nashville New Guy with a '77 C20 Silverado

Gorgeous interior - my favourite with the scroll work and birch wood grain. And you've got the steering wheel too! Just need a set of factory buckets and centre console. Wish we had a Tennessee over here ( or Texas ) to move to. won't get into politics, but ... ( at least we have the trees )

    Lubrication

yeah - I think you need to use the 2 ingredients together. I'm sure Google AI can come up with a recommendation, it seems to be an authority on everything else these days ( maybe if it got enough enquiries of this sort it might loosen up a bit ? .. )
