    Old school hub caps

There are tons of them on eBay. Be prepared to spend money. I have seen NOS on there. The hardest and most expensive ones are for 1 ton truck with Dana 60 front axle. Used ones are a few hundred.

When should I change the stock front leafs?

I would leave it alone. Your truck is nice. I am someone who prefers things stock. I rarely see a set of aftermarket wheels that look good.

    1978 k30 hydroboost

I kept my core and will rebuild it to have as a spare. Mine as original and I noticed it was leaking when at the body shop. I just replaced the whole unit since it was faster.

    1978 k30 hydroboost

$3000 is the “I don’t want to work it” price. I bought an AC Delco master for $50 from Amazon for my 1987 V3500 and my hydroboost unit from Napa for $500. Shops will typically double the price on parts. When I owned my shop I would not work on anything older than 10 years. Parts are hard to...

    1976 C20 AC Pressure Switch

Not trying to be the nomenclature police, just wanted you to know there is a difference. I know a/c very well but there are so many different ways to control the pressures and temperatures. If you have a service manual it should explain how the system works.

Let's talk one man brake bleeder

I bought a metal pressure bleeder off Amazon. It came with a whole assortment of master cylinder adapters. I bought a metal adapter to use. I filled the unit with 3 liters of fluid. I removed a half liter from each wheel. Nice pedal and not one drop of fluid spilled. I previously tried to use a...

Let's discuss Thermostate modification to aid in cooling!

You need the engine to run at the proper temperature. If you need to remove a thermostat to get it to not overheat you should fix the problem not do some hack “repair “. Find a new mechanic

K20 Suburban Flaming River tilt column (also Wolff Engineering bearing)

Wow, I just looked at the cost of these Flaming River columns. You could send your original column and have it rebuilt for much less plus you know it will fit.

Missing a bit of side molding on my 85 scottsdale...

We painted my 1987 in 1992 or 1993 because the paint was peeling and GM paid to repaint. Precut pieces at that point were non existent so good luck finding any today. The older stuff on a roll was pretty much identical to original.

Missing a bit of side molding on my 85 scottsdale...

I bought a roll of the stuff from Amazon. Looks damn close but I don’t have any original. My truck has been painted a couple times prior to this restoration. We replaced that molding years ago with stuff we bought at a body supply place. That stuff was exact but that was 25 years ago

Need help deciding on which Front Bumper

@TotalyHucked I have been happy with everything I bought from AMD except for one thing but it was made right so no issues. I decided since my original bumper is not rusted at all and the chrome is just old looking with one small spot of peeling I would get the chrome redone.

Mounting new doors before welding in rocker

Yes, brand new GM part that is discontinued. I know what NOS means. The AMD rocker actually fit better. I am talking like a minute difference nothing major. The NOS door I got must have been dropped because it required massaging to get to fit nice. Nothing you could see until mounted on a cab.

    Broken U-Joint Strap Bolt Question

If there is a groove where the seal rides just replace the pinion yoke. I got one from O'Reily's for my V3500. Was about $75 and looked identical. Fit perfect, came with a seal. This being said I would use a Heli-coil on the messed up threads. The u-joint sits in the yoke and the strap just...

you can always have stock seat belts re-webbed any color you want. I had my seat belts done and they came out excellent.

Mounting new doors before welding in rocker

I can tell you on my 1987 being restored I replaced one door with an NOS one. There was a lot of fitting by the body guy to make it work and look decent. Gaps are within acceptable limits to my eye but nothing like a German car's gaps. The AMD rocker actually fit a bit nicer than the GM NOS...

1985 c10 lower radiator hose cold

both heater hoses should be hot regardless if the thermostat is open or not. I would take the temp. readings with a grain of salt. Those guns are not very accurate when checking temps of non metallic items. I have two of them. One is a Fluke that cost my company a good amount of money and a...

1985 c10 lower radiator hose cold

Good catch. I read it as 180. Should not have posted just before falling asleep. When the thermostat does open both hose will feel hot. Of course the lower will be a bit cooler but not ice cold.
