87 TBI oil pressure sender wire

    ALDL data logging

If idle is 750 in gear. I’d expect idle in PN to be in the 9-950ish range. Maybe 1000. But certainly not much more.

    ALDL data logging

Idle will be higher in P/N. To me it sounds like somebody has modified the tune to bump the idle target, especially if the IAC seems to be moving around to maintain it. Mine is bumped to idle around 650-675 in gear and is probably around 850 in P/N. IAC counts don’t usually move much from park...

    ALDL data logging

Have you looked at your PROM to see if it is an OEM PROM? It should have a 4 digit code on the label you can see without removing it from the ECM. The switching to open loop on 0 throttle almost seems like somebody dropped in a tuned PROM to intentionally do that. As long as idles ok, it...

MAP is absolute pressure. you need to subtract the value from atmospheric to get vacuum. it should not go into open loop under decel. is the exhaust stock and is the O2 sensor in the driver side exhaust manifold? some 454s went open loop at idle, but that wouldn't happen until the speedo was...

Intermittent High Idle and Occasional Hesitation on Acceleration

    1987 V10 700r4 locks up immediately after 1-2 shift

keep it in D around town. being locked up in 3rd at 40mph is a lot different than being locked up in 4th at 40mph regarding engine RPM and lugging. the only other option is an override switch or if it is like my 90, adjusting the lock speeds on the PROM via a tuner

    Another 700R4 question

My TCC on the 90 burb is electronic lockup and had some issues like that bc of a cracked TCC solenoid. Serviceable with a pan drop on mine. It also caused some idle jumpiness after a highway run bc it also wouldn’t fully unlock.

Blower Motor shuts off when heat is selected

The temperature control is a cable mechanism that physically moves a flapper. If it is affecting motor operation, the cable must be physically in contact with a wire somewhere? You will have to take the glovebox out and watch things as you move the temp slider around.

    ALDL data logging

If the O2 sensor is going bad it will give bad data and cause odd fuel trims. If it isn’t regularly oscillating around, I’d suspect a bad one. Earlier this summer I had a lean code and looked at the data and the O2 sensor would randomly get stuck high, then low, the oscillate normally for a...

    ALDL data logging

There is a lot to unpack with TBI. Hit up the reference library and download the emissions and drivability manual for your year. That manual, coupled with your cable and software, will be all you need to understand things that the ECM is doing. But here is an overview. Depending on your...

Windshield squirter does not work when intermittent module is connected.

I have an issue on my 1990 burb where the wiper switch won't engage the washer when it is cold out. assuming something shrinks up and losses contact. I tapped in an intermittent button switch upstream of the module and use that when it is cold. since I tapped upstream of the module, the wipers...

    ALDL data logging

I dont know why the data stream is so slow, and i agree it is frustrating sometimes. the ECM is adjusting things and using data much faster than what is reported out via the ALDL. they must have thought they were saving money by not reporting out all of the data? or maybe they were saving money...

    HEI Modules

Modules are one of the few things that will leave you dead in the water, take up almost no space to keep a spare, and can be changed with just a screwdriver in a short amount of time. It just makes sense to keep one, like it makes sense to keep some fuses, spare fluids, etc. and I 100% agree…use...

    4WD indicator switch on NP208 1987 V10

Oddly enough, I have the same problem on my 1990 with np241. Bought a new switch, but after I reached up in there, I figured I’d just pay a mechanic to do it next time I have a reason to take it to a shop and get it on a lift. They probably have specialty tools they can use and, maybe more...

Intermittent High Idle and Occasional Hesitation on Acceleration

If you have the wrong type of EGR valve , it will hesitate upon light acceleration from a stop. Might not be the issue you have, but it definitely does it with the wrong valve If the RPMs in the data stream are jumping all over at readings that are no way correct, it is some sort of...

Intermittent High Idle and Occasional Hesitation on Acceleration

I'd bet that you are getting some sort of interference with the ICM harness or one of the other sensors wire harness is rubbed thru or something. it is throwing the ECM weird signals and causing the issue. check all the harness to the sensors and ICM really well, make sure plug wires are in good...

EGR tests good, but code 32!

You need to be in gear and give it a little skinny pedal to get “off idle” to see if the solenoid is putting vacuum to the EGR valve. The TBI ECM knows when it is in gear and when it is in park/neutral.

    Nashville New guy!

I don’t think there is any power, or otherwise, lock on the tailgate. If the window is down the tailgate should open regardless of what the power locks are doing. Sounds like the linkage that pulls the latches on each side might be stuck or otherwise have some alignment issues… The window...

EGR tests good, but code 32!

There should be no vacuum on the other side of the solenoid at idle. The solenoid only opens off idle. So the solenoid is not stuck open. But that doesn’t tell that it is opening when it should be. the first steps of the diagnostic indicate that if the ALDL is grounded A-B the solenoid should be...
