1988 Crew Cab 454 TBI Knock

sounds like it could be in the valve train or maybe a lifter that isn't lifting anymore?

    Terminator X Conversion - 1991 TBI

they did change the 700r4 nomenclature to 4L60 around this time frame for the 1500s. that is how my 1990 v1500 transmission is named. then a few years later it became the 4L60e when it became electronically controlled. I think the R/V 2500 could get the 4L80 (might have even been 4L80e?) around...

    Terminator X Conversion - 1991 TBI

yeah, I think that harness could also work. it might have a few other things you dont need. and you might have to add a few things that are missing. so it is not a OEM replacement, but looks to be a solid 90% solution. but, I'd still work with what you have. make sure plug wires aren't on any...

    Terminator X Conversion - 1991 TBI

yes, code 42 is tricky bc only a few things will set it and those can be hard to diagnose because they are usually not obvious. if the shop was repairing and splicing the harness properly, and everything works right now, it dont know that I'd just rip out and replace the harness as a...

88 burb blower motor keeps blowing fuse and poor air flow.

It is just a friction fit. Use a pliers to push it up from the pointy end. That should help get it started and then you can remove it

Check out the emissions and drivability manual in the reference library of this forum.

88 burb blower motor keeps blowing fuse and poor air flow.

The air flow is vacuum controlled flaps. There is a vertical duct piece under the dash that you can take off and see the operation. Sometimes a clip gets broken. The blower power issue could be the resistor or relay being bad. Both are under the hood, or at least they are in my 90 with air...

    Sanden compressor wiring

id guess black is ground and green is power coming from the low pressure cutoff switch.

    1987 350 tbi no start

I’d follow the “cranks but won’t start” diagnostics in the emissions and drivability manual from the Reference Library and see where it leads you.

    Intermittent IAC issue 89 V1500

I was adding more info to my post when you quoted. The other ECM ground is on the passenger side back of the engine. You can check the harness at the ECM to make sure the grounds are good on the ground circuits.

    Intermittent IAC issue 89 V1500

It won’t affect idle, but if you are still running a 4L60, you need to adjust the DRAC to get the Speedo right for TCC lockup and fuel management at highway speeds. The ECM uses the speed for some things. For the IAC, it is a tricky one that you can’t readily check with a voltmeter. And even...

4L60/700r4 delayed engagement in cold weather

dropped the pan and put in a new filter. there was definitely clutch material in the pan, but not sure if it is crazy abnormal. it has been about 50k miles since the pan was last dropped for a filter. no other abnormalities or parts in the pan. attached is the paper towel I wiped the pan with...

Cutting hole in floor to replace fuel sender

There is a difference between cutting an access hole(s) in the bed of a pickup that is always visible and an access hole in a burb or blazer where it is on the interior and covered with carpet or vinyl flooring.

thanks. I will update when I drop the pan sometime soon!

4L60/700r4 delayed engagement in cold weather

Cold start pressures - Immediate pressure on start, some building during cranking even. Park - 70psi Reverse - 110psi Neutral- 70psi Over Drive - 70psi (pressure immediate and steady even though engagement felt just a little delayed. (35deg ambient temp). Drive - 70psi Second - 170psi, but...

Cutting hole in floor to replace fuel sender

take some measurements of your hatch, please, from some reference points. I picked up a piece of burb rear floor thinking id make a cut if/when the fuel pump dies again that id have something to use as a cover.

4L60/700r4 delayed engagement in cold weather

I have a vac gauge and a fuel pressure gauge. but not one for the transmission. I dont mind buying a gauge to test pressure. Will this one do the job off Amazon- Advanced Tool Design Model ATD-5550 do i test pressure while just shifting gears in the driveway, or do I i need to be driving to...

    SES light not working

not sure what's up. the wire to the SES comes off the Gage fuse, then the SES light, then to the ECM where it gets grounded to illuminate. did you unplug the ECM connector and ground circuit 419 in slot A5 at the ECM connector to see if the light would illuminate?

4L60/700r4 delayed engagement in cold weather

1990 GMC V1500 5.7L TBI, 4L60, NP241, 3.73 gears, ~32in measured tires. I noticed this last winter also during a big cold snap (0 degree weather) and it seemed to be worse this winter during the recent cold snap. The transmission engages in R quickly no matter the ambient temp or...

    SES light not working

I’d unplug the ECM and ground the SES at the ECM connector to see if the SES light comes on before I bought a new ECM. And I’d check the connector over real good to make sure it is ok before I bought a new ECM. But if you do need to buy a new ECM, you need the same number as you already have...

    Washer fluid won't stop squirting

The wipers and washer are switched via ground. So if the washer keeps squirting, something is grounded that shouldn’t be. That could be an issue in the delay module (if equipped) or an issue with the harness where the washer and wiper wires are touching so when the wiper is on, the washer is...
