    Replace Gauge Needle

you can replace it if you can find one. you can gently pry them off with a fork. it is just a friction fit. or you may be able to glue your old one back on?

    89 Suburban 5.7 blowing fuse #5 GAGE/IDLE

I'd guess that your manipulation of the harness moved the purple wire off it's short to ground for the mean time. Go out at night and use a flashlight to inspect that wire. The rub through will be fresh and shiny metal compared to everything else, and will be very reflective.

    89 Suburban 5.7 blowing fuse #5 GAGE/IDLE

Mine was rubbed through on this bracket right above the TCC connector in the photo. You might just move the harness a little to make sure it isn't touching metal and see if that helps you narrow down the location. I think there is also a bracket by the firewall where the harness leaves the...

    89-91 LMC headlight upgrade

the best I can do in my urban area without driving farther. maybe I'll update with some pics next time I am out at the farm. one Pic on the road and another one shooting across the street at the neighbors fence and garage (different distances from the truck) to give an idea about the cutoff. low...

    89-91 LMC headlight upgrade

bringing up an old post for an update. I installed some Diode Dynamics SL2 Pro LED 9006 bulbs in the low beam LMC housings. It is a very impressive amount of light with a solid cutoff, like modern car lighting. The LMC housings with the 9005xs in the high beams (what they come with) and the...

    Cleaning Fuel Injectors

I'd run your favorite fuel system cleaner through the gas tank and not worry too much about it. The gas mileage wasn't great to begin with. My 1990 4x4 burb 350tbi is no spring chicken with 235k miles, but I keep things well tuned up and maintained. I get 12.5-13.5mpg generally cruising at...

What have you done to your square lately??

it is so dark inside the cab of these old rigs, and I could never see the cupholders on the center console of the suburban. One good thing about more modern cars is the little LED that shines down from above to illuminate the console area. So I added a little LED to provide some ambient light...

    350 tbi running too cold

my 350tbi burb runs at 195-200 when it is cool outside and 195-210 when it is warm outside and depending on engine load. but my gauge isn't accurate. it reads on the 2nd hash at 195deg engine temp. it is pretty close to 210 when the gauge reads 210. I monitor CTS with ALDLDroid, so I know what...

Can't decide what to do. Suggestions? Thoughts?

if I ever find a pot of buried money, I'd regear to 4.56. or the cheaper solution is to go back to stock height and tire size but if things have changed for the worse, I'd do what you said about checking compression and then look at the tune up parts, or check compression while you just do the...

Can't decide what to do. Suggestions? Thoughts?

when's the last time you had a tune up - plugs, wires, cap, rotor? could be the ignition system needs to be freshened up. I have a v1500, 350, 4l60 that sits on tires that are also about 32in. it motors down the highway fine at 75mph, but isn't winning any land speed races. downshifing on...

700r4 TV cable cause acceleration/run away with 6.2?

Is the cruise control somehow sticking on or somehow being engaged? Cruise control is the only thing i can think of that will suck the accerator pedal down. And the brake pedal switch will turn off the cruise and stop the issue. Is he accidentally "setting" the cruise when he uses the turn...

Pretty sure last time I replaced a EGR the old one had a gasket and the new one also came with a gasket. I'd get a gasket and use it, if it were me.

    sensor

Pic and engine details would be helpful. Best guess with the limited available information would be some sort of coolant temperature sensor for fuel injection, either TBI or aftermarket.

    Defrost doesn’t work

there is a panel that you can remove from the box under and to the left of the glove box. it is kind of a vertical piece, maybe 3 or 4 screws. you should be able to check for broken door clips and watch how the blend and air direction doors function and see what the issue is with it off

Washed and waxed it as part of winter prep. Those new ceramic waxes are a little different to use, but I like the results....even on my old beat down paint.

    Kick panel leaking

the cowl drains exit behind the front fenders. watch where water comes out when you dump a hose into the cowl. there is a plastic trim piece to remove, if still present, and a little piece of permeable foam to pull out of the way. then you have to reach up with a stick or something and pull out...

    Ignition Coil wiring

The white to red splice is for a tachometer. Fuel pump relay power comes from an orange wire on the 440 circuit. Pink will be ign hot, and I think it runs through the fuse panel. The wiring manuals are in the Reference Library of this forum
