What have you done to your square lately??

@gilby959798 and @Tank6x2 lots of awesome work going into those trucks! Kudos

What have you done to your square lately??

Same. Makes total sense but if I had to guess it may be for quicker warmup and the Heater doesn’t need full flow to pull good heat. I do know a heater core and fan will pull a lot of heat off. Used to cheat in demo derby and keep coolant in the system (rules were water only because 90% of cars...

What did you fix on your daily, today?

Wow reminds me of the old days…. Except you’re doing a way nicer job. Dad Usta have to patch rockers and floors to pass state inspection. It was more old license plates and Sloppy bondo work though….

Starting gremlin that makes no sense

So it runs fine otherwise? Sounds like you have a Bluetooth clutch safety switch. That’s fancy. Lol

    The Quest For Overdrive . . .

My point was I always thought a NV3500 was pretty durable light duty trans. Idk how you’d bust one behind a V6 without really trying hard to. Isn’t the HM290 the same but just a vehicle mfg designation?

    The Quest For Overdrive . . .

Idk anything about T5s other than what I’ve read/heard. But the NV3500, I’ve put through the paces as daily/towing/hauling. (Like towing 8-10klbs x country in the summer) Had over 200k on one and 100k on another as daily/commuter/work trucks/ the occasional heel toe clutch dump smoky burnout...

    Old77’s GMT400 SWB 4x4 5-speed project/DD

Same difference. That green is metallic too. That said, I suck at painting but have piece mealed together several different metallics over the years and not had an issue with them matching. The 4 different colors thing needs to disappear first with any paint job unless you’re going to use 2x...

    Low pressure electric fuel pump

Assuming this is for some carbureted vehicle that you can’t run a mechanical pump on for some good reason or other? But you saying you’re running a Holley Red seems like it’s for the truck with a LS? (Which is not low pressure in the context of old gassers) Need to be more specific or make...

    The Quest For Overdrive . . .

@jjester6000 ya, OD would be nice but I think the usefulness will be very limited. Just due to the low power engine pushing it. With a stock size 235 tire you’re theoretically right about 2900 rpm’s at 70mph. So realistically 3k rpm’s. It’s all in what you are prioritizing. Flat sea level bob...

    The Quest For Overdrive . . .

Half tons came with NV3500s for a few years too. 88- I’m not sure maybe 92-93. I think at some point they swapped the half tons 5 speeds to NV4500s. I pulled a 4500 from a 6 lug truck once but idk it may have been a light duty “2500.”

What have you done to your square lately??

I I replied before seeing your amp draw test which looks proper. If you’re testing for AC ripple you need to be on AC setting like Rick said. But you didn’t answer my question. Is the .02 reading 200mA? And might be wrong and it’s only 20mA now that I look at it. What’s it read on the mA...

Single headlight grille for 1987 V2500

GMC Hardware is more scarce than Chevy as you found. GMC letters are easy to obtain from newer vehicles. I don’t believe the grille is specific to single headlight though.

    Worn out coil springs?

Been a while but I’ve never not seen new coil springs settle in after some miles. If you’re not pounding it down the road it may sit higher for a long time.

What have you done to your square lately??

Am I reading that right, your meter neg is plugged into the high side so .02A draw or 200mA? If the math is correct that’s a lot of draw.

What have you done to your square lately??

I’m not sure what is lost in the translation but you have a multi meter and you keep doing other weird tests. Use a light bulb use your multimeter whatever just see if there’s a draw when the vehicle is not running. And isolate it (likely) to the alternator diodes/rectifier (hopefully).

When should I change the stock front leafs?

No, it wheel/axle is “centered” stock. But go do what I recommended above. You’ll see the caster and shape of the truck fender wells reduce rear clearance significantly when turning the wheels. Moving forward helps this issue. And you’ll need to be comfortable with adjusting steering rods and...

When should I change the stock front leafs?

Hey now…. But yeah -40 donk wheels and rubberbands is not many of our preferred look. However @Joe T, what you are proposing will require more clearance than likely even 33-12.50s on 0 or slightly - offset appropriately sized rims. That said if you’re running stretched rubber bands on fragile...

    Body weights, for mockup

Being it’s a C20 it’s gonna sit about the same naked as fully assembled. Unless you got it on really light duty leaf springs then you may get some additional sag I suppose.

What have you done to your square lately??

Right? I did a little research after my 4 alternator day experience. What I found was reman (and icbw been probably 5 years) = blast clean and new bushings and brushes at a minimum. Windings, rectifier, voltage regulator don’t get replaced if they “pass” or work. Of the 4 I had, in this order...

What have you done to your square lately??

Ya, while I thought it’s just who they could get to contact me to work here (different geographic location and different peeps here than in GA), the local Vato Zones seem to hide based solely on DEI. The local Oreillys seems to have a bit more “automotive” centered staff. And for a couple years...

What have you done to your square lately??

What kind of amps does a bad diode draw? Did a quick check months ago was gettin 40-50mA. Sound like a diode? I think it’s that or the Temu quality headlight relay. Need some time to spend on it. Maybe next month lol

    Fuel problems continue

Pump the brakes….any old electric pump will get you by for a little while or a long time depending on how you hook it up and where you locate it. Thats as important or more important than what kind of pump. Plus the safety factor of installing a smart relay or another means of controlling the...
