    305 serious sludge

Easy. Put the valve covers back on and run it. Caked on sludge and grime are not a problem until YOU make them a problem. When you drive down the road, do you worry about the mud in the ditches? Don't do ****. Don't do engine flushes, don't scrape it out of there, don't do anything. Just...

    Sbc serpintine belt kit

Solution: Go to Walmart and buy some sidewalk chalk (or regular chalk). Start the engine, and carefully hold the chalk against all side of the belt. Coat the belt in chalk dust. For safety: Make certain to be "downstream" of a pulley, so that the belt pushes your hand away rather than...

If you have never done this kind of thing before, then it might be somewhat challenging. Your talking about a lot of customization, modification, improvisation, fabrication, materba... well maybe not that last one.. But it will require patience and dedication to complete. Don't start the...

    454 running hot

Gauge is not accurate. It shows changes in temps, not actual temps. Verify temps before making changes. To drop temps: Pull thermostat and garden hose flush followed by distilled and then add coolant. Leave thermostat out for now, during testing. Get the temps too low, and then work to...

    Help Find My Dad's Old Truck - 1979 CHEVROLET C10 BIG 10

I would try a private investigator. Also, try this: Have someone under 18 or someone that is a street bum put up a $5,000,000 reward on the truck. Then try to get the reward mentioned in the news.

    A6/axial ac compressor lines

Whats wrong with the old ones? If they have a leak, Permatex The Right Stuff gasket maker will fix them. I have repaired many A/C leaks with that stuff. Once I fix a bullet hole in an A/C condenser with it.

What rear diff seals do I need to replace? Carrier bearing condition?

I would not replace anything. Maybe change the fluid, but that's all. Those leaks are not bad. Unless you are having to top off the diff with each oil change, its nothing to worry about.

    Retorque Question

How were the bolts loose to begin with? Torqued with oil on the bolt holes? If the gaskets leaked, I think it would be worth replacing the gasket or performing a leak-down test.

    What is this part?

More pics, then plug them into google image search. Or, are there any part numbers on it? I needed to figure out where a heat shield went today, and I found a part number stamped on it. That lead to a parts diagram and thus the solution.

Spare tire mounted under the front bumper?

That would be perfect. I would like to have something like that, but I don't have the patience to build one, and I think it would cost more that I would want to send to have it built. My price point is like... $100 for something used. Maybe as much as $250 to buy or have built if it was really...
