Suppose it is possible to hammer out the thrust bearing. Way to check, using a pry bar try to move crankshaft both to the front then rear. Shouldn't move more than a few thousands of an inch.- fast 99

Engine cranks but doesn’t start. I believe it’s my timing in my distributor.
if you suspect plug wires are not correct bring #1 cylinder up on compression. Then look where rotor is pointed. Start the firing order from that terminal on the cap.- fast 99

AC Not Getting Cold
How about the heater door not in the correct position, broken or leaking? Try pinching off one heater hose see if there is improvement. Although high side pressures aren't excessively high does the clutch fan work?- fast 99

I saw a couple of those at Barret Jackson auction in Jan. Sold for huge money think over 200k. Although restoration cost will be high there is potential. Hope they go to a good home. -

After it's been running for a time thermostat housing or the area near stat on intake. Reading will be slightly lower than actual coolant temp.- fast 99

Help! 1991 Suburban cuts out suddenly, immediately restarts. Tried everything.
Excessive AC voltage "confuses" [for lack of a better term] overheats or overloads electrical devices. Like I said have seen it cause a multitude of odd electric issues. Remember one vehicle, [Northstar Caddy] bight me real hard in the backside. I never checked the AC voltage until 2 days...- fast 99

Help! 1991 Suburban cuts out suddenly, immediately restarts. Tried everything.
Check alternator, both AC and DC. AC reading near .10 [one tenth] justifies further testing of alternator. High AC isn't all that common. However, very easy to check with a digital volt meter and will cause all sorts of odd driveability problems.- fast 99

Turn signal circuit fuse is "hot-to-touch" - excessively warm
Visual inspection and start disconnecting circuits to find the offending area. Then proceed from there. Install a circuit breaker or limiter of some kind. Do not install a higher amp fuse such as a 30, unless you like replacing harnesses.- fast 99

Washington state used to do VIN inspections on out of state vehicles, generally not now. Still do home built [trailer], rebuilds, non-titled registration in cases of a lost title and inspections for abandoned vehicles at tow yards. Front discs won’t release
Amazes me how many proportioning valve are replaced on this forum. Obviously this vehicle needed a replacement. Bet in my entire life as a tech, replaced less than 5. These vehicles getting older might explain it. -
Bad miss - could use some thoughts from y'all
Can remove plug wires one at a time running to possibly isolate cylinder. Checking compression might narrow it down. A vacuum gauge is a good diagnostic tool for misfires, faster and easier. Many times will show a mechanical fault. Check for vacuum leaks. Dieseling suggests a vacuum...- fast 99

Transmission Fluid Question
As far as I know Dex 6 is just a higher quality synthetic version and can be interchanged with dex 1,2 or 3. Usually don't use it as a replacement for the older versions because of higher cost. Oil is expensive enough.- fast 99

Factory gauges are indicators and can't be relied on for diagnostic purposes. Mechanical aftermarket gauges are reliable, hint. As I said before, if not pushing water out it's likely not as hot as you think. Immediately after shut down engine will hot soak. Coolant temp will rise, sometimes 20...- fast 99

Cracked heads is a possibility on old vehicles. Before I spent 500 on the original heads look into aftermarket availability. Even the cheapest aftermarket head will flow better than stock but be careful selecting which one. These trucks are heavy. Too much cam or large port heads will sacrifice...- fast 99
