Refresh in near future
Can also leak at rear corners of intake. Might suggest oil dye and black light purchase to diagnose source of leak. Pan gaskets are more difficult in the vehicle, spend the extra money for a 1 piece.- fast 99

1977 P30 hydroboost questions
There was a local business that could rebuild HB units provided push rod wasn't staked. Early units could be rebuilt, later ones not so much. Believe the reason was if staked couldn't be disassembled, at least my him. -
Reinforced hood
yes, and there are studs mounted on the cowl on each rear corner that traps hood from going rearward as well. Not sure what year that was adopted/required. Have seen the results of the hood knife, its not pretty.- fast 99

Brakes won’t bleed, help!!!
In the shop when I finish a corner or axle I open the bleeders and let them gravity bleed. When finished installing brakes only one corner remains. Works a majority of the time and doesn't move the valve. ABS systems, that's another story for another day. Will add on PU and larger brake systems... -

Mostly agree with what your saying. I do try to keep the diagnosis as simple as possible and direct my suggestions toward the most likely/easiest and least expensive cause. Exactly, used to be a replacement part had a decent chance of being usable. That is not the case today. For me, last failed new SB part was a fuel pump, took 3 before I bought one that actually worked for more than an hour. Now I have spares. Our shop is getting the occasional bad spark...- fast 99

Hard Line from fuel pump to carb
if making out of bulk will need a good tubing bender or the line will kink. They do make 90 degree fittings to replace the straight one on the carb. That will eliminate one tight bend.- fast 99

Just using pressure isn't close enough. Piston needs to be near TDC. I use a long straight screwdriver in the spark plug hole, turn the motor BY HAND until screwdriver doesn't move up/out. This will get the mark in the area of the timing tab. Won't be exact TDC but good enough to check for a...- fast 99

Timing is set with vacuum advance disconnected at idle. Probably need to start by verifying correct timing mark by bringing #1 cylinder to top dead. Aftermarket seatbelt mounting question.
I bought the aftermarket set and didn't like the fit. Sent them back. Was able to find a certified company to re-web and repair the retractors. Problem was the cost. With 4 retractors it got expensive, about $500. Just did an internet search appears there are more companies doing it now than a... -
305 serious sludge
Not a fan of Pennziol. I used it and changed the oil religiously back in the late 70's on my first car. Lost the motor early about 70k. Interior of the engine was covered with brown gunk. If not overheating or has any other issue nothing to repair. Heater hose temp difference could be a restricted core. Temp split of around 20 degrees suggests a problem. If you want to check the accuracy of a heat gun boil water, read the temp. Be sure to adjust boiling point for altitude...- fast 99

What do you mean? What I mean is they are notoriously inaccurate. All the above suggestions are good however, do you really know if it has a problem? Is it boiling over or pushing coolant out? Replacing front brake lines - remove proportioning valve?
Used to be new parts would fix problems, today it is the apposite. Do not replace original GM parts with offshore junk unless absolutely necessary. -
