74 C10 front left disc locked

Agree can never say never, however I can't remember a master alone causing unequal side to side brake issues. edit, OP don't overthink it. Whatever fixes it will be logical and you will say why did it take so long to figure it out.

74 C10 front left disc locked

When locked up open bleeder, does it release? If not bad caliper, stuck slides. If it does there is a restriction somewhere in the system as suggested above bad brake hose, ect.

Sun Timing Light on life support.

Search in Florida, I have a Sun 1115 scope that the infrared was wigging out. The guy knew exactly what was wrong and had the parts in stock. Not sure if they deal with timing lights but worth a try. Can't remember the contact information. Just bought a replacement for a Snap on timing light...

New R134a system - compressor kaput (what to replace)?

R4 compressors are a notoriously bad design. I make a lot of money replacing them. If a Sanden conversion is available go with that. These systems are overbuilt 134A will work fine. Blue truck in the avatar was converted this year. Will still freeze you out. Use 80% of the R12 charge and...

    no fuel spray

On early TBI vehicles they make a log with fuel pressure test port that can be inserted where the fuel filter is. However, if you have 15psi, noid flash and no fuel pulse either line is crushed/plugged or there is an issue inside the TBI unit as Ricko suggested. Suppose the larger line could be...

Stock 400 small bock with bigger cam

400's ran fine in stock form. HEI has all the ignition that motor needs. If you want to add to Jegs profit by all means order away. Think it through first. I do agree if the heads need rebuilding consider aftermarket aluminum. If they are usable as is may be not. Remember 400 has more swept...

How do I test mechanical fuel pump

Interesting 10-15 hg. Checking the vacuum side, don't think I have ever done that except by hand with a finger over the inlet. That is one reason I recommend checking volume. no sucky. no volume. FYI, went through several defective pumps on a 350 before I wised up and bought an AC unit. Not...

    Keeping heat out of Th400

Heat is the killer of automatics. We had a couple of them in SB tow trucks. Trannys lasted about 100k between rebuilds. If your not familiar the trucks alone weighed around 8500lbs. Add a normal sized vehicle GVW could easily exceed 12k. I installed 2 aux coolers on one truck with a temp...

Holley/Brothers Trucks 2025 Labor Day Sale going on now!

I installed a dashes direct in an 81. Dash bezel wouldn't fit the opening, especially on the left upper corner. Had to grind away some of the bezel. Is this something you have run into?

    High Compression Woes, good fix??

Another benefit of AV gas is it's much more stable. I rotate through my cars to give all of them equal use but that usually ends up being 3+ years of inactivity. Last fill up they get a good load of AV gas. Smells good to.

    High Compression Woes, good fix??

Cam design will effect compression ratio, 200 is to high on todays fuel. A friend just built a 406 Ford and had a heck of a time with high compression ratio. Took many phone calls to cam suppliers before he was able to find a grind that would relieve the ratio. FYI, regular in the muscle car...

    High Compression Woes, good fix??

Probably should perform a leak-down or alternately look at top of pistons with an inspection camera. Blow by is more often than not caused by rings leaking. Run on can have many causes, low octane, high idle, vacuum leak, hot engine, to name a few. Leaning out would likely make that worse...

Too high Hydrocarbon on emission tests-Help

Perform a lean drop for idle mix. Either by ear or a tach back screw out until highest rpm is achieved then back in until you loose 25-50 rpm.

Too high Hydrocarbon on emission tests-Help

Am surprised is runs smooth when it's that lean. The cat and pulse systems may be working fine with those test results. Retarding the timing is a good idea and worth a try however I suspect the engine would be happier with more fuel. Although not approved by Washington state EPA checking the...

Too high Hydrocarbon on emission tests-Help

With functioning cat and air pump results are usually lower. What is the CO? Also where is the RPM at? If RPM can be raised that will usually lower both HC and CO. Didn't see the test sheet, too lean at idle. That will cause a misfire resulting to high HC. No RPM reading, 1350 limit [boy...

What at these metal components on gauge cluster?

Gauge that goes in that area may not have 3 pins. Some light sockets may not be used. Shine a flashlight from the rear what does it illuminate? If the sockets are hard to twist try it with a small pliers. It's possible the area around the bulb has deformed or melted.
