Which coating for a long waiting period?

Don't want to point fingers. Some of the above information is wrong. Different paint brands have different procedures. ASK WHAT YOU CAN AND CAN NOT DO AT A PAINT STORE!

Do throttle body or carb spacers actually help?

try removing the screw, use air pressure and carb cleaner. Many times if restricted will fix it.

Do throttle body or carb spacers actually help?

Yes they did. Single opening, 4 hole and tapered spacer. Came down to the specific combination. There was a distinct improvement with a Wilson tapered spacer on a Wilson manifold.

Which coating for a long waiting period?

Read the instructions. Those can be sourced from the paint store or online.

Which coating for a long waiting period?

Epoxy is an excellent barrier coat. Best to read directions. Some brands must me sanded and recoated with epoxy after 7 days, others like Nason just sanded. Sprayed motorcycle tin yesterday with Nason. Never used their product before. Can be used over bare metal, is a sealer and surfacer...

    hydraulic pump

Probably need to consult with pump manufacturers. There are high volume and or high pressure pumps and you may need a flow restrictor in the system somewhere. Make sure the return line/hose is larger than pressure side. There's lots to consider such as RPM.

Are these modern carburetors a big improvement?

Carbs are stupid, meaning just mechanical. There was an experiment for a couple years with self adjusting carbs that had feedback. They were slightly more complex but if set up properly, worked. Even back then techs didn't know how to work in them. Problem today is finding someone to work on...

Has anyone ever built a 377 Small Block?

As I read the OP this is exactly what I was thinking. Back in the late 70's to early 80's 377 builds were more common than 355 in racing, at least here. Required special thicker main bearings. Those were sometimes pinned to halt rotation. Usually RPM's were held in the 7200-7300 range. Low by...

    TBI spare parts

Yes, I agree most drivability issues are not the actual TBI injector failing.

    Which primer to use?

6 colors PPG instructions are very complete. The original color was gray green DP 40 they expanded from that. DPLF Epoxy Primers come in 6 colors: DP40LF (Gray-Green), DP48LF (White), DP50LF (Gray), DP60LF (Blue), DP74LF (Red Oxide), and DP90LF (Black)...

    Which primer to use?

Best to ask at a paint store. There are new products developed all the time. Not necessarily better because of VOC requirements. When I painted, epoxy DP PPG was was the best and also expensive. Recoating after 7 days? Sand and re-apply DP then continue, time consuming and expensive. If color...

    TBI spare parts

Generally true, only have seen a couple fail. One of our trucks both of them failed at the same time. Incomplete diagnosis led me to a failed pump. After the new pump not fixing it dug a little further. It's the only time I have seen both fail at once. Never happened again. Assume they received...

I’m building my first 383 stroker and need suggestions.

engine masters tested edlebrock rpm am sure you could find the video. That's what I would consider provided it will fit the heads. Remember this, HP is top end insurance bottom end. Most HP increase will be in the heads. You will get pages of recommendations on this. Weed through it...

74 C10 front left disc locked

Do the brakes unlock that was the question Reason answering this in important, brakes can still be locked if there is a mechanical caliper issue. Piston traveling back doesn't tell us much other than it moved. I am trying to help not being an as*.

Timing at 25 degrees advanced - harmonic balancer slipped?

I generally use the SB for towing not to embarrass myself with a 75 mph trap speed. Lets race motorhomes next. lol

Timing at 25 degrees advanced - harmonic balancer slipped?

That doesn't tell you anything. Need to lay 2 dampers on top of each other with key way aligned. Yes the engine will run at 25 degrees although at reduced power and increased fuel use. There are 2 advances vacuum which you checked and mechanical. To check mechanical see if the distributor...

What did you fix on your daily, today?

Changed a sway bar link on a 2023 Altima 35k miles. Still under warranty they replaced the strut for a loose link. Not playing the make appointment and leave it for a day again.

Power loss and vibration at low rpm, take off

Where the 2 wires attach to the pickup coil they can break right at pickup coil. Cause is from the advance plate moving. I sometimes give them a gentle tug with a needle nose pliers. if about to break it is usually visible.

Power loss and vibration at low rpm, take off

Only mentioned the cap swap because it is quick and easy. Be sure to look carefully at those pickup wires. If the vehicle has the original distributor best to retain it if possible. Aftermarket or rebuilt distributors may or may not have an advance curve that works for that vehicle.

Power loss and vibration at low rpm, take off

Checking the vacuum eliminated a lot of mechanical items. I would suspect an ignition issue, weak coil, wire breaking down, crossfire inside cap, that sort of problem. Unfortunately unless a scope is available would be hard to pin that down. If you have a source try a different cap/coil assy...

    Spark plug debate: CR43TS 44s or 45s in 1989 350

Do not spend extra money on any exotic plug. They will do nothing for a 350 other than drain the wallet. Buy plain old stock plugs.

    Good enough or perfection

Guess in the end how do you want to use it. I have several collector vehicles ranging from driver quality to ground up restoration. Bought one knowing it would never be restored by me, I am too old. Few door dings, thin paint in some areas, ect. After 10 years still fixing mechanical items a...
