Earlier small blocks use a flange on the header pipe, no gasket. Not a great design. Engine movement and frame twist would sometimes loosen the joint. There is also the style with a flat manifold surface, gasket, heat riser, header pipe with flange. I don't believe style pictured will work with...- fast 99

Lifter tick?
If style with a hose on it remove the end piece. Any exhaust leak will be quite noticeable as air passes by the end of the open hose.- fast 99

If you suspect exhaust leak, get a stethoscope. They are very inexpensive at HF. Bad fuel pumps or worn push rods can sometimes sound like a loose lifter. When covers are off watch for similar rocker movement between cylinders. Worn valve train is another possibility. If equipped, are you...- fast 99

Convertors were on lighter duty trucks. Probably the same head but lead would kill cats. In the past I have seen several early heads with extreme valve recession. Almost makes economic sense to buy aftermarket aluminum heads rather than spend money making original heads compatible with unleaded...- fast 99

At 6:43 red greased area on top may be holding it. Part of tilt assembly. Should be able to release with the tilt lever. Have the tilt pins on the side removed? Lock and key should be out to release and allow gear for the rack to turn. There are differences between the early and later...- fast 99

73 Blazer 350 spark plug stuck
If the porcelain can be blown out as suggested I would try to drill and tap whats left provided there is access. Use grease on the bit and tap to reduce metal entering the cylinder. Another possibility is a bolt extractor socket for removing rounded nuts. Doubt it will work but worth a try.- fast 99

I usually replaced the mounts. Many times upper bracket attached to the block will be laying hard against the cross member or frame. CR43, C indicates commercial, ground electrode is wider heavier duty. Primarily designed for 2 ton and larger trucks. Will work on light duty in a pinch.- fast 99

Sagging doors: where to start?
Inspect area around hinges for cracking of the door frame, especially upper hinge. If found will need to be repaired or door replaced. After adjusting weatherstrip may or may not seal.- fast 99

Code 12 indicates there are no stored codes. If present, system will flash codes from the lowest number first. You probably inadvertently disconnected the battery.- fast 99

Fuel pressure? Should be 9-13 although I have seen GM TBI that ran poorly at the lower spec. Check grounds. Please do not toss any more parts at it. Part quality is poor. It is possible to create an additional problem and make diagnosis more difficult.- fast 99

Rebuilt Stock Steering Column or Aftermarket?
$1000 is awful expensive for a stock unit. Provided all the hard parts are good, switches, bearings and tumbler will be around $100. I just rebuilt 2. Guess it depends on what the goal is, custom or stock.- fast 99

Check vacuum, if low or not steady will be rich. Popping in exhaust has a myriad of causes. From ignition misfire to loose valve guides.- fast 99

Paint Source for 1983 K20
A semi retired friend still does higher end painting on one or 2 cars a year. Automobile completes he orders 2 gallons of base. Usually only uses one. And yes, stored properly will last a long time. Pints of color today, lucky if less than $200. Hardener and thinner formulas have changed too...- fast 99

And buy much more than the project will need if this will be a longer duration paint job. Mix colors change, matching down the road may be a problem. Ran into it a couple years ago. There was no way the paint store [Ditzler] could match a 15 year old mix.- fast 99
