1990 TBI misfire/popping exhaust
Those distributor caps can crossfire internally. Sometimes it's not visible. We only use Delphi. More expensive by a lot. This is not a place to buy an economy part.- fast 99

Just to be safe I always bleed the air out. Others here say it isn't necessary. Have seen too many engines air lock. It's not much more work, either take stat out or remove a hose if on intake.- fast 99

Water would indicate a possible belt noise. If this is a serpentine belt drive they do not like misalignment. Most of the time it's the PS pulley. Shaft should be flush with pulley. If any "belt dressing" has been applied toss the belt in the garbage, clean all the pulleys with a wire brush...- fast 99

Remove belt, noise still there? If gone likely belt misalignment, pulley bearing or water pump. Way we diagnose noises like that is with a stethoscope. HF has them for less than $10. Another possibility is a cavitating PS pump. If that's the case fluid might be foamy.- fast 99

87' a/c brackets
If you need to purchase the brackets and compressor might [at least] want to investigate a newer design compressor. Looking back on the truck I have probably would have switched. New R4 compressor I bought took a dump in one season, leaks. Think the Sanden compressors are better in many ways. -

Hard to tell from the pictures but if TBI, with O2 sensor [not carbed], AIR system only pumps during warm up unless it has a dual bed cat. Many old compressor front seals were designed to leak. Recharges were a fairly common yearly maintenance item. Can't blame the backyard mechanic on this one. Back in the day R12 cost $1 a can. Is an under hood visual part of the emissions inspection? If all the vehicle needs is being lower than the limits an air pump and cat do wonders on emissions. A/C REBUILD w/R-12
It's really not an issue using R12 just need the correct orifice tube, cycling switch and confirm correct oil is in compressor if any. Today's hoses and o rings will be compatible. Agree with previous post on compressor quality. A new R4 lasted a total of 50 hours before it started leaking...- fast 99

Flanges are top and bottom horizontal areas. Last frame I replaced used a forklift through the cab with doors off and 4 helpers on the bed. Could also remove seat to reduce weight. Guess repairing depends on how it's going to be used and how long you expect it to last. Any frames we repaired were for shorter periods only. Long enough to replace the vehicle. As someone who has dealt with bent and worn out frames, obviously best option is replacement. Depending on what is available in your area, finding a suitable frame might be the biggest hang up. SBC 400 intermittent lifter tick.
Valve adjustment with hydraulic lifters 3/4 to 1 down turn from zero lash. With each valve closed loosen valve adjustment nut until push rod starts to turn easily with 2 fingers. my 2 c Check valve adjustment first it's possible nut backed off or worn cam/valve train parts to near zero lash. If engine hasn't been maintained ATF might help but I doubt thinner oil would. LED exterior light conversion! not going well :(

same experience, and yes my crystal ball was cracked a long time ago. One of my employers gave way too much away. We got into it several times over free repairs.
