need 208C case front 1/2
Crawled under my truck this morning and found transfer case front 1/2 has cracked around the brace area. Either will need a new front 1/2 or welded up. Would rather replace the case. Does anyone make a replacement front case for a 208C?- fast 99

Makes sense, there must have been a design weakness. K cases had those two additional braces that are a PITA to install and always in the way.- fast 99

Torque is your enemy here. Aluminum bell housings both automatic and manual really aren't that strong. I had to replace bell housings on our tow trucks every 2-3 clutches. Smoke machine advice
one shop I worked at had a real nice [expensive] Matco unit. Another shop had a cheap smoker probably from Amazon. Matco unit was far superior. Heated oil better, could control air flow, had a gauge to monitor size of leak. Cheap unit had to watch the temperature closely and no way to monitor... -
Need advice on what to do.
built my shop to 30# wish I had done more. Couple extra trusses doesn't cost that much. Also have to consider what is hanging on them, insulation, interior, lights. Need advice on what to do.
When we have another bad winter people that moved here in the last few years may get an awakening. Last one was about 08 or 09. A lot of buildings didn't take the weight. A good friend lost a 40x60 shop and almost everything in it. Place I worked at lost a 40x40.- fast 99

Orfice filter stuck, broken
They make a removal tool but it is basically a self taping long screw. Might try that and warm the tube up slightly. Be vary careful around the o ring seal area. Doesn't take much to ruin the evaporator. -

What you say is true about body shops however the NW has gone 2 years without a winter. Most body sops are starving, few crash repairs. I know of one local to me that is a relatively large. No oil pressure
Those plastic collars break quite often. However, never seen it cause a problem. Believe they are for assembly only. Its rare to loose oil pressure suddenly from a mechanical issue. If the plastic collar bothers you there is an all steel oil pump drive available.- fast 99

1979 454 C10, Factory Air
Factory AC is way better except do not use either one of the original [R4 or A6] compressors. Sanden is a modern design and I believe there are conversion kits to mount and plumb it. There's likely a complete under hood kit.- fast 99

Longest lasting would be a single system. Stock style H pipe, everything to the rear bumper single tube. Exactly right, just paid $4100 for a Mustang exhaust system and I already had $1000 of other exhaust parts. About the same cost as the entire car was when new.- fast 99

I'm clueless with Wiring...
Check for battery positive at large upper stud on starter. if thats ok, with a helper turn key to start, check small terminal closest to the block. Should have power on it with key turned. Tube grille for 85, quad headlight type
Im just the apposite dislike old style tube grills, they restrict air flow. I tossed a real nice one in the garbage, probably shouldn't have done that. -

C30, 85 with a narrow dually
Thought about doing that conversion just for safety from a blow out but never got around to it. I think the ride would be more dependent on size of spring pack not adding another tire. Cab and chassi dual rear, inside tire clears the spring pack by only an inch or 2 very close. Dually trucks...- fast 99

I used the sand it off method. Other than most of the grain is gone looks fine. At the time replacements weren't available. -
Exhaust Manifold Help
spreader if the manifolds are excessively warped manifold holes could be out of alignment. May need to enlarge the outer holes. Cast is tricky to drill, I have a reamer for this application. Also helps if they are heated a little. Off-shore replacement manifolds are junk, stay away.- fast 99

Gaskets [unless stainless] will tear from expansion of manifold when hot. Manifold will initially seal but won't last over the long term.- fast 99

Ignition overhaul
Am sure there are aftermarket distributors that are decent but haven't used one. I go to pick and pull yards and buy used distributors, although have to say usable ones are becoming harder to locate. May be E Bay or marketplace.- fast 99
