What is the advantage of Hydro boost brakes over hydraulic?
Big ca Or big cams with tons of overlap. -
Preferred SBC intake manifold bolts?
I prefer the 12 points as a ratchet, ratcheting wrench or even a box wrench is easier to fit and work the center bolts if the intake doesn't allow for a lot of tool movement. This applies for a lot of tight spaces not just the manifold like headers, distributor hold down etc.- xm20k

Exhaust Manifold Help
Check to make sure all the bolt holes will line up and that all three surfaces are flat with each other. I've seen these things warp to point you could only ever get two bolts in them when you tried to remount them the end ports spread away from the center or vs versa. Not as often but I have...- xm20k

Unless I'm misunderstanding the question when you pull the old column, they come out with it. Those arms don't come off without pulling it out and tearing it down, but since you're putting a new unit in, they will remain in the old column once it's removed.' Steering column compatibility
Double check the turn signal switch plug. GM used 2 plug lengths 3 7/8" and 4 1"8 the difference is on the last few wires (signals) are spaced wider apart. I had to swap the shorter one into mine, wires are in the same order just spaced out differently on one end...- xm20k

Doubt you have a built trans, so it most likely has a vacuum modulator that adjusts shift points based on engine load via manifold vacuum. Some people run without it but it may cause the shifts to be say too early like pulling a hill and it suddenly jumps to 3rd and acts as if it has no power...- xm20k

Manifold vac for brake booster and pcv valve. line to distributor and a line for the modulator on the transmission if it has one and is stock i.e. not a manual VB and still shifts itself.- xm20k

C20 suburban with moderate drop, what shocks?
Might be hitting bump stops. The 2" spring and 2.5" spindle I had on mine would bottom the stop against the spring pocket there was only around 1.5-2" before they touched and then only compressed another 1" or so also when jacked up or bounced hard enough so the suspension was unloaded the...- xm20k

Issues with HEI swap from original points ignition.
This Start again roll it over to TDC and redrop the distributor you're possibly 2-3 teeth off at the cam/distributor gear. It's not 180 as it would backfire and try and act as if trying to start. Sounds like it's trying to start at 45 degrees or more of advance.- xm20k

Vortec bottom end/TBI top end: timing?
Find TDC and see if it lines up if not a cover gasket set and pointer are really not that expensive. If the balancer is from that block no reason to change it, and it should line up if your just swapping heads and intake and the bottom end is all the original parts...- xm20k
