And to deck the block. But it’s my suspicion that with that kit, you would have to clearance the block as well for crankshaft throws. Yep, he quoted me 1000 to 1500. There’s one other place I can check, but I think locally that’s the going rate since there’s no competition. -

That’s an option. Just depends on whatever else comes along with it. Block work to be gone through completely (and I’m not going forward without that) would be at least a grand locally. -

Heavy Metal Custom Shop down the way has a 6.0 Lq9 with warranty out of an Escalade for 1750. It may be that an LS is the cheaper way to go in the long run. -

That’s what I’m thinking. I don’t wanna work with a 327, not that it’s a bad engine. I just won’t be able to achieve the compression ratio with the heads I have without doing a bunch of engine work (different pistons, etc). -

Yep, the forged slot mags they have were on my list until I found they were over 1k a piece. Then in short order they weren’t on my list anymore. I ordered a Gearwrench torque wrench this morning to take advantage of the deals. Amazon (as much as I don’t like ordering there) had much better deals going on than the local box stores. -

Made a tool this morning to hold the lifters/pushrods as I take the engine apart, that way if I get in there and don’t see something that I like, I can just put it back. Or, if the cam is big enough that I decide to keep it and keep going. -

Ordered up a machinist’s straight edge and a TDC stop. That way I can make sure the deck is true, and I can measure how far in the hole the pistons are before I order up the head gaskets. At the same time I can see where true TDC is and see how close the harmonic balancer is, as well as check... -

Just got back from the machine shop, the heads are good to go. Not a quality issue in site per the shop, they’re actually built very well. So I guess with that said, I give my tip of my hat to Brodix. Now, I’m coming to terms the fact that I actually have to take a perfectly good running truck... -
