More scraping and brushing. So far, the evidence is that the Power Wash isn’t as effective as simple green. But not far off. I rediscovered a can of CRC water based engine Pro degreaser. I sprayed that on and let it soak last night. It instantly turned brown, so that may win the competition...- ChuckN

Just black on everything that’s supposed to be black. Frame and inner fenders. The wiper motor is full of surface rust and so is the brake booster. So it may be the better part of valor to just paint them. I’m trying to keep the metal lines (brake, fuel, trans lines) bare metal.- ChuckN

I just found a recipe for a gallon of Power Wash. 8oz isopropyl alcohol, 16oz dawn dish soap, 104oz water. After my premade supply runs out, I’m going to try it.- ChuckN

Still waiting for the machine shop. And since I have to wait for the final word on what the bore will be (I’m hoping for .040 over but could be .060 over) I can’t buy the bottom end kit. So I’m just keeping busy until then.- ChuckN

That’s what I’m thinking. It’s too easy to get into the weeds with all the nooks and crannies. I’m definitely going to get some more sludge off the bottom crossmember before I do a final wipe down and then call it good. My expectations and reality weren’t really aligned, lol.- ChuckN

This engine bay cleaning project has me seriously reconsidering how far I want to go. 1/4 inch thick grease everywhere. I used to say that 70 year old grease on our old ‘54 was nothing to trifle with. 45 year old grease isn’t much better. Might just spritz it with black the best I can and later...- ChuckN

Today I cleaned the garage and deluged myself with antifreeze while moving the radiator. Apparently they hide more in there after you thought it was empty. I stopped by the machine shop- the other guy will be back on Monday. He said after that, things should get back to normal pretty quickly...- ChuckN

Sold the Halibrands this morning to fund the project. Sad to see them go but they went to the right feller. I keep trying to go the the garage to clean the engine bay and I do for a few minutes at a time, but it’s like an icebox out there with the cold snap- hard to keep the hands warm working...- ChuckN

I’m still waiting. The other machinist still hasn’t shown up since the floods. Nothing to do but wait- it affords me more money saved. If enough time goes by, the money saved will just increase- and if the block STILL isn’t done, I’ll pitch it and buy a new summit block. -

Came here to say this. Or at least, in some iterations, the M21 has a really tall first gear. Seems like the clutch would really suffer. Let alone take off power.- ChuckN

Concrete sprayer sounds like a good plan. I’m not going down that road with POR-15 then. Kudos to you all that have used it- I don’t have the patience for that kind of prep in a truck that won’t have show quality anyway. The block is still at the machine shop and likely will be for a while...- ChuckN
