Sounds like a rod knocking, but it's in the tranny

Could be pump or converter, especially if the trans is low on fluid. That said, is the knocking present in all range positions? Or does it only happen when you put it in gear?

Th350 Only allows Park and Reverse

Remove the detent roller and work the manual valve by hand - DO THIS ONLY AFTER YOUR WHEELS ARE CHOCKED OR ALL OFF THE GROUND ON STANDS OR A LIFT! This will tell you if there's a problem with the manual valve, rooster comb and/or parking rod assembly. If everything moves freely, reinstall the...

    700R4 Gear “Hunting”

Have you figured out the problem as of yet? If no, what troubleshooting and/or fixes have you tried? How many miles on the transmission? Bad grounds will impact your TCC control as it's electro-mechanical and commanded by the ECM which is also tied to the vehicle's electrical system. But...

    700R4 Information Thread

The 82-86 valve bodies had three pressure switches to support a TCC strategy that locks the converter starting in 2nd gear to increase fuel economy. I believe some of the Corvettes and Fbodies had this feature, but don't quote me on that. Not sure what you mean by hooking up to manifold vacuum...

What year is my 350 Turbo Trans

Any standard/stock replacement detent cable will work. It hooks into the detent valve lever that is shown in your picture. If you have a non lock up TH350, your unit ranges from 69-79. If you have a TH350C, years were 78-84.

TH350 will not engage after sitting for three months

If you haven’t figured this out yet, first thing id do is install a mechanical transmission pressure gauge, fire it up and see if you have any line pressure at idle. I’d also check vacuum signal at the modulator as well - you want at least 13-15Hg. If no line pressure is showing on the gauge...

700R4 no engagement any gear, ATF over-full

You can use a gas valve body though if you find shift points are too high, you'll need to swap the valve body to the replacement unit, along with the governor. It may be worth putting in a Transgo SK700Jr shift kit into whichever valve body you will be installing as well. Beyond the governor...

700R4 no engagement any gear, ATF over-full

Sound is probably pump whine, which occurs when something is damaged/broken inside the rotor/slide pocket. That unit almost certainly needs to come out for overhaul. That's my guess based on everything you've shared and described.

    Th350 shift kit help

You are way over complicating things, with trying to mix/interchange parts between all those kits. Stick with the Transgo kit, return, give away or toss everything else, especially the B&M stuff. If you need anything specific for that Transgo kit, call Transgo later this morning (they’re in...

    overdrive super servo

The super hold servo is not necessary unless you're pushing more than 500HP and racing in 4th (or you're actively towing heavy loads in 4th gear on level grades). The vette servo is a worth while upgrade.

    700R4 valve body gasket supplier

Call Transpartswarehouse.com and let them know what you need; specify auxiliary valve body so they know what gaskets to sell you. TPWH is located near Redding, CA and usually ship within a day of order being placed. I’ve been buying parts from them for 15 years, no issues.

    Squealing turbo 400

lol, No. The pump cannot be removed in that manner. Replacing the pump requires front end play to be checked again to confirm it’s within spec. The unit will need to come out for overhaul if the sounds, as described, are coming from the transmission.

    Turbo 350 to overdrive

Build up a 700r4, late unit (87-92). If you can find an 87 unit specifically, you can control the torque converter 100% mechanically via the TCC shift valve location in the valve body using Transgo or Superior Tech’s TCC mechanical lock up kits. You can install any 1982-87 valve body onto any...

    Problems with new clutch material

I’m not going to assume you did, hence me asking. You may be surprised to learn that most don’t A) turn the flywheel B) install a new throw out bearing When performing a clutch replacement. All too many are penny wise and pound foolish when it comes to auto repair. I’m assuming you either...

4L60/700r4 delayed engagement in cold weather

Could be the lip seals on your forward apply piston getting a bit hardened; they are allowing fluid to blow past when cold but becoming more supple once warmed up and start to seal properly. Same sort of explanation if you have an auxiliary valve body where the seal on the forward accumulator...

TH350C case connector, can't find replacement

Please post your questions in whichever one of my 'Information Threads' that aligns with your transmission that you are working on. Or feel free to start a thread and tag me. I have turned off my PMs specifically to avoid having to field tech questions there. Way too many people were sending...

TH350C case connector, can't find replacement

Have you found a case connector for your TH350C? The 3-prong version is what is sold now for all TH350Cs along with 700r4s, 200-4Rs and other similar units.

    1984 Silverado

See if you have engine braking when in manual low. If not, low reverse clutch pack is fried and unit will have to come out for overhaul. Low reverse failures can result in case replacement as the metal debris from the friction discs begin to cut deep scoring lines in the seal surfaces for the...

4L60E deep stock aluminum pan w/drain upgrade?

I’m not aware of a production aluminum pan for these transmissions but the aftermarket pans like what you saw are pretty good. Some of them are simply remanned factory pans with drain plugs added. You can also add one to yours either via drilling then welding a nut for a factory drain plug...

Either/or is fine. I’d do it yourself. Invest the money you would have paid someone else to do the service in a nice, new pan with a drain plug.

    4L80E Information Thread

Regular HVAC pump should work fine for the vac testing. You can make any number of test plates as long as you have the plexiglass and Sonnax vac test instructions. There's one location, the forward abuse valve balance spool, for testing 4L60E valve bodies that Sonnax doesn't specify so if...

4L60/700r4 delayed engagement in cold weather

Those pressures look perfectly fine to me...I'd drop the pan next and see if the filter is clogged or other anomalies present themselves (burnt clutch matter in the pan, metal, etc).
