Should I do the small block 350 Swap?

It’s your truck and your wallet Sir… Do whatever feels right

    Brake Proportioning Valve Replacement

Combination valve, and they’re all junk… and I think they’re all from the same warehouse in China. CPP, Summit and others seem to all get horrible reviews due to leaks. What’s wrong with the one on your truck?

    Vintage Air Firewall Installation

Ah... Gotcha, that was a screenshot of the vintage air instruction manual. Here's a link to the instructions for a square without factory air conditioning. There are several other instructions on the website if needed. https://vintageair.com/content/751619.pdf

    Lockstrip Question

I’d probably just leave it without adding any glue or silicone. Seems the the little trim piece is just that… Trim. The lock strip itself does all the work

    Aftermarket Door Latch Mechanisms

I'd be shopping for some used take outs... Like out of a 91 burb or something, almost every aftermarket part I purchased was junk. For fairness sake, I didn't purchase any latch mechanisms so I don't have personal experience with them.

    Cold air intake

Did you design the GMT800 LLY/LBZ intake? I’ve been impressed with mine… sucker seems to breathe even with 2 Lbs of dirt in the element.

    Stock Chevy 350 power upgrades

Tune up, Cam and intake get my vote... Do lots of homework before picking a cam, get something that will make power/torque without putting that suburban out of the desirable power range. I put too large of a cam in my truck as a kid, it sounded great and made good power but preferred to stay...

    Led headlight mod

I think that has moor to do with poor aiming Rick, the brightness of a light shouldn’t affect you if they’re not aimed at your retinas.

But… but… The left limit of the requested measurement has no specific point? I can probably get the measurement from the heater hose to the dip in firewall…. I’ll try to remember in the AM

Door realignment after paint, what technique did you use?

I originally bought 1 & 1/2 gallons of base white for my truck, all of the “under” areas got 2 very light coats and I was out-OUT at the end of the project. If I wasn’t so scared to run out and being real conservative with my coverage I probably would have ended up squirting at least another...

Door realignment after paint, what technique did you use?

I don’t have access to all my photos but here are a few that capture the jambs. I feel they turned out great, and really, they’re almost not noticeable once the truck is assembled. Only advice would be to spend some extra time cleaning, degreasing and detailing those suckers before you paint...

Door realignment after paint, what technique did you use?

May I ask what advantage you expect from painting with the doors removed? I originally wanted to do mine by removing the doors but after getting them adjusted as perfectly as possible there’s no way I’d chance taking them off to paint. The risk Vs. Reward of trying to re-mount the doors on...

    Michelin 325/85/16 tires

If you need to buy new wheels to get away from the 16.5’s you might as well go to 17” if you intend to keep it on such a big tire. 17’s are probably the most common wheels for 37” and taller off-road tires, although I’m starting to see more 20” wheels on the 40” & 42” tall setups.

    Vintage Air Firewall Installation

I’m not 100% certain but I think these three holes are the factory holes used to align the mounting plate from the engine bay side. If you make a template with these holes and maybe add in the holes for the lines you should be able to get the two A/C mounting holes marked. Use the vintage air...

    Vintage Air Firewall Installation

Good luck Sir! If your kit still has the plate you could make a cardboard template of the holes you need to drill and the factory holes. Then transfer the marks to the inside of the firewall and drill the holes

    Vintage Air Firewall Installation

I’m assuming you bought the kit for a non A/C truck I used the 3 factory holes and the pinch seam to locate the mounting plate, marked the 2 mounting holes, and marked the plate on the inside of the cab where it covers the original square heater hole. Took the plate back off, drilled the...

    Vintage Air Firewall Installation

I can’t remember for sure but I think i had to drill those. I used the VA trim plate to locate them, IIRC a few of the holes in the plate used factory holes to locate and the remaining holes were supposed to be drilled

    Vintage Air Firewall Installation

Pictures or it didn’t happen! I never measured the holes on mine but getting all of the hard line from the heater core and evaporator to exit clean was a PIA. It probably wouldn’t hurt for the holes to be slightly larger, you’ll just need to get some grommets that fit whatever hole size you...
