    82 C10 EFI Conversion project

Anyone recognize this connector? I can't locate it on a diagram (probably looking on wrong year) and not found on my harness on the truck. Has a Blue, brown with white stripe and a grey wire. Trying to determine what it is and if it stays or gets deleted. All other circuits I was able to...

    82 C10 EFI Conversion project

Found this on eBay for cheap. Since I will be deleting a few circuits for this swap (choke, temp/oil sensors, Alt) rather than hack up my original engine harness, (which is suss to begin with) I will clean/freshen this one up and modify as needed. Next is finding the various Packard series 56...

    Chuck’s engine build thread!

After binge-scrolling Chad's thread here, it appears this build will see some extreme duty going by that small converter, spicy cam and the fact he watches FSM garage, this may be more spicy than my build. I'd go with the ST deal and let you decide on spring pressure, since she will likely see...

    Chuck’s engine build thread!

+1 My strategy is always oil control, not so much volume. I like running a bigger sump just for oil quantity as I know it will get hot, so more oil to spread out the BTU's per ounce helps it live - in extreme conditions if those should ever arise.

Thanks Chuck! Been following your build as well, so cool to see there's at least three of us opting NOT to LS swap lol.

    Chuck’s engine build thread!

Sounds about right. HV pumps were all the rage back in the days when we ran REALLY loose (.003"+) bearing tolerances with 50W oil. These days it's about tight bearing clearances (for durability/longevity) and it's ok to run standard volume pumps. Not to mention the HV pumps take more power just...

No, I needed the one that dropped it down about 1/2" for the pan I am running. I went with the stock pickup size, but it was too far from the bottom of that pan. I still have it if you need one. I think this pan is either an 8 or 9 quart deal, so it's a bit deeper than stock.

Yeah Mellings has a good selection of goodies these days. Even running their roller lifters as well. and the stock lump in my truck has a Melling flat tapper that I installed 16 years ago and has never missed a beat. I run either Howards or Melling rollers for these spicy street builds never...

More pics of some of the infra pieces of this build; 64/66 billet wheel RHP800 turbo, Tial wastegate and mac valves. The Terminator will handle boost control. Not pictured is the CO2 bottle and plumbing, plan to eventually run on-board air but for testing and minimizing space will just run the...

I went with the 10552ST which is 10% volume over a stock pump. Nothing special, with I want to say the yellow spring. They told me the gears are different they call it "shark tooth" that is supposed to run smoother with less cavitation at higher RPM. Also has a bolt on pickup so no need to weld...

Been a minute since I've had time to update here. After a holiday break and a new roof for the house - finally getting back to making more bad automotive choices. Finally got the trans and all other parts, made a few small changes to the heads, but everything is going together. More updates to...

The 4 bolt main LIE !!! Or is it???

Agreed. I am building a forced induction 355 with a 2-bolt. The only thing I would recommend if pushing the "limits" is to pin the caps to lessen the amount of cap walk it may see. In my experience this does help the bearings live a bit longer. Less expensive than redoing the block with billet...

C10 with Holley terminator x help!?!?

Yes. The Terminator only handles fuel/spark/fans/fuel pump (and alternator if you have PWM style) everything else is on the truck wiring. FYI

Few more pics of work in progress; Some mockup work checking P-V, lift, rocker geometry and all that fun stuff. Went with a small Melling hydraulic roller cam and lifters, for good street manners. Heads are chicom "NKB" specials, with Manley stainless valves, Comp 987 springs, with VTO Ti...

Finally got the block back from the machine shop. I wound up using a bunch of old parts I had laying around from my bracket racing days, and throwing this 355 together. Big thanks to the boys at Central TN Machine works for bringing this old boat anchor back to pristine. The crank is a...

    Switching AC to R134

I had good luck with denatured alcohol (sold as "clean burning fuel") and acetone. I used a cheap flushing tool on amazon hooked to the air compressor. Took about an entire gallon of alcohol to really get all the old mineral oil out. I used acetone to flush both evaporators. All the details...

Apparently not. To be on the safe side I pulled mine out, and gave me a chance to freshen up all the seals and heater core, vents, etc. Also allowed me to find the best spot to mount the ECU, and should work out pretty good. Can still see the LED's things and it's hidden up behind the glove...

    Vents smell like piss

FWIW: I just did the HVAC refresh on my 82 with pics: https://www.gmsquarebody.com/threads/heater-box-refresh-with-pics.47912/ It's not as labor intensive as some make it out to be, took maybe 30 minutes to get everything out, then another couple hours of cleaning, and resealing everything.

    Heater box refresh with pics

On tangent #24 of my EFI conversion project (https://www.gmsquarebody.com/threads/82-c10-efi-conversion-project.46791/) I thought I needed to remove the heater box case to avoid hitting it with a holesaw to make a firewall opening for the harness directly above. Hind sight being 20/20, I...

    82 C10 EFI Conversion project

Anyone know if the HVAC box needs to be dropped out to get a holesaw through the firewall? Trying to map out where to run the harness in, I think the factory used the area pictured. Hoping I can get a hole in it without too much drama. Area on inside: Looks to be maybe an inch of...
