    Diagnosing mysterious sound from Tran/Tcase

I'm just suggesting to shim the pinion up a few degrees and see what happens. Yes, the angles are "supposed" to match. But, due to other variables, that sometimes doesn't work for the application. Not matching angles do not always cause a vibration.

    Smoke machine advice

The smoke machine I used to use didn't use oil or fluid, it used a fine powdery stuff that I called pixey dust. I need to get a smoke machine myself. A buddy of mine owns a shop and I asked him what he uses. He bought and uses this cheapo one from Ebay: He says it actually works very well.

    84 K1500 Turn Signal Cam

I would suggest reading through the first part of this thread: https://www.gmsquarebody.com/threads/how-to-fix-loose-gm-steering-column.3085/ On the first page, you will see this photo: The areas that I highlighted in red are where there needs to be lube. Also notice the one over on the...

700R4 Lockup Torque converter control issues solved

Many many times it would climb to 240 before I backed out of it. If it weren't for the gauge, I would have cooked that poor trans so many times. I can assure you, I could do whatever I wanted in 3rd and it never tried to get hot. Unlocked in 4th was the only time it ever would get hot.

    84 K1500 Turn Signal Cam

By "cam", do you mean the turn signal switch? The cancel cam is the collar on the steering shaft that has a couple bumps on it that interact with a couple springs on the signal switch, to cancel the turn signals after going through a turn. The turn signal switch needs some grease on it at the...

Odd "Misfire"? on 2013 Yukon Denali

If it comes to that... focus on a 3/4 ton truck or van. Lots of 8-lug conversion vans too. Better brakes and no 4L60.

Dead after new new alternator belt

The spark was the positive post on the backside of the alternator grounding out on the cylinder head. In other words, you dead shorted the positive side of your system to ground. Lucky it didn't catch on fire. Likely melted wires and/or fusible links.

What have you done to your square lately??

I think that didn't start until '81, and the belts didn't protrude through the seat as far. ***Just going off memory here, about parts I don't normally pay much attention to***

Good, bad, or ugly? Carrier and axle shafts

If our definition if "flat" is the same in this case. It should be round with no runout. I'm guessing you get the cool sticker with the polar bear on it too.

700R4 Lockup Torque converter control issues solved

And to make sure it's plumbed in after the fluid passes through the radiator cooler. Or do what I sometimes do (which may be incorrect) and bypass the radiator cooler altogether. The side effect of this is that in very cold weather, the trans fluid may not get very warm during light use.

Good, bad, or ugly? Carrier and axle shafts

The cam gear looks ok to me? Those appear to be lines in the casting. It also looks flat, after inspecting the photo for a bit. The waffering on the backside of the side gear made it look like of those goofy carnival mirrors at first.

700R4 Lockup Torque converter control issues solved

@grummy The local trans shop that I used for years warned me that running a 700r4 unlocked for prolonged periods will kill it due to excessive heat buildup. They were correct and I've got over 70k of road miles with a temp gauge installed that proves it. My lifted 4x4 Suburban was undergeared...

    Diagnosing mysterious sound from Tran/Tcase

If the angles are too steep on the joints, it doesn't matter too much if they match. Sometimes pointing the pinion up a bit can resolve the issue. Has the shaft been balanced?

3rd line coming out of master cylinder?

"It depends on the inspector" Yessir, you are 100% correct. There are inspectors (at least one anyway) that don't know exactly what they are talking about and will fail a vehicle for something it should not legally be failed for. California included.

Odd cable/control going to foot feed.

The air pressure gauge was for trucks equipped with air brakes. My memory is foggy, but I think the master cylinder on the firewall might have a single line that goes to another brake cylinder under the floor that has vacuum or hydraulic assist? I'm also curious if parts from this truck are...

3rd line coming out of master cylinder?

There was another thread about this. I believe them being outlawed is a false statement? I'd rather not find that thread and link it, because it kind of turned into a sh!t show with an "expert" in the feild being disproven.

Odd cable/control going to foot feed.

Since it's mounted off to the left, did that cable run to under the hood, rather than the throttle pedal? Looks like that was a higher trimmed truck. That passenger door panel is the Cheyenne type.

That's an egr block-off plate. As long as there is actually a gasket under it, it's "probably" fine. It'd be really hard to botch that install.

Is an EGR Delete Kit Worth It for Performance and Longevity?

The "C" code (I think) 6.2's had an egr in the manifold inlet. The "J" code (again, I think) engines did not.
