    77 K10 LS Swap

Drive shaft issues continue. Took it back Monday. Watched them rebalance the shaft and everything looked good. But once back in the truck, there was still a vibration. With rear end on jack stands and truck running in gear, I can see a wobble in the shaft at the splined slip joint. Sent the...

    77 K10 LS Swap

Update to my driveshaft saga. Shortly before installing the 4 degree wedges/shims to improve my pinion angle my new drive shaft lost its rear balance weight. While i had it apart installing the shims I welded a what believed to be a like weight washer in place of the missing weight. End...

    77 K10 LS Swap

Ok. I am going show off my ignorance again. . My 77 currently is running a 03 5.3 and has factory gauges. I purchased a so called LS swap gauge adapter kit that came with a temp sensor. With it installed my coolant temp gauge barely moves when the engine is at operating temp 180 ish. I called...

    77 K10 LS Swap

What coolant temp sensor in 5.3 works with stock 77 temp gauge? I am currently using a mini automated sensor but the gauge barely registers a temp but the computer says 190. Trying not use the large 1/2 NTP 77 factory sensor.

Its good to know that local parts stores should have replacements. I will just have to see how long the PEX lasts.

    77 K10 LS Swap

I may not be alone in this, so feel compelled to share this idea. Saw a short video on YouTube today on how to fix door strikers so that slamming doors to shut them is no longer an issue. First off I had no idea that the door strikers had a plastic bushing. Of coarse mine have been missing for...

35 inch tire with 3.73 gear

That’s all great info. Think I will stick with what I have for now, run it till spring and see what the real mph and drive ability really is. Only have about 1000 miles on it at the moment and still needs exhaust and AC. Thanks for the input.

35 inch tire with 3.73 gear

I am currently running a 5.3 with an NV 4500 OD trans into a 4.56 gear on 35 inch tries. In OD at 2k rpm my mph is 58. I am considering a gear swap to 3.73. Anyone running anything similar? My calculations say that at 2k rpm with the 3.73 my mph would close to 70.

Change to the change. The degree wedge/shim didn’t work as well as I first thought. On the pinion/axle side in swapped the 6 degree wedge for a 4 degree wedge making the pinion angle 5 degrees. On the transfer case side I lowered the cross member an additional 3/4 in an inch making the yoke...

    77 K10 LS Swap

6 degree shims installed. They seem to have done the trick. I only run the truck for about 10 miles, but everything seems much smother. The operating angles (10ish degrees) are still a bit high, but should work. I am told that I will ware out u joints quicker. Will put some miles on it...

    77 K10 LS Swap

With the new drive shaft installed the vibe has gotten much better. Still a bit there at 60+. Just ordered a Warrior 6 degree steel shim kit, a bit pricey, but I did not want to take a chance with aluminum shims. Especially with that much of degree. This should take are of the drive line vibe.

Sm465 locked up in granny gear

I agree the parking brake can be untrust worthy. Right or wrong, I have always put my manual transmissions in reverse when parking.

New drive shaft. The old one was in bad shape. New one is the correct length and diameter. Last thing I need to address is the pinion angle. 4 degrees at Transfercase 9.5 at pinion. Need 6 degree shim.

The 465 bell housing will not work. I ordered mine from High Impact PN 712576. It’s made by Advance Adapters. You can also use the GM bell housing that used with the NV4500 in 3/4 and 1 ton trucks. Don’t know the PN.

    NV4500 into a 454/465/205 truck?

I just did a nv4500 swap into my 77, replacing the 465. You need a nv4500 bell housing, a dodge 4500 will have different input and out shafts compared to the GM. If you have not already, check Advance Adapters and high impact. Oh, I am running a 2003 5.3, NV4500 and the NP205 from my 77.

    77 K10 LS Swap

Spoke with a drive shaft shop in Texarkana today. Described the remaining vide I have along with some details of the looseness/slack I am seeing in the splined slip joint. They claim that is my problem. I hope to have time soon to run the rear drive shaft to them and have it checked out. A...
