How to turn a half ton into a 3/4 ton?

Thanks, I'll look at the Tabco panels. I think I know where there's a cab without the hump in the floor and with less rust overall

How to turn a half ton into a 3/4 ton?

Thanks, I'm still open to swapping in another cab. This one is pretty much just needing left inner rocker, the short channel frame under the A post, and the floor pan. On the right it's just the floor pan and short channel. But the big issue that worries me is the driver's (left) rocker is...

    Sealing Bed Wood

Where a truck lives should be considered, and if outside, whether the bed gets covered. And whether you haul gravel or sand. Even two part (epoxy) paint like West won’t last long in some situations. I don’t have shelter for my two ton yet but I should.

    Sealing Bed Wood

I bought a 49 chevy truck from a guy who had built a flatbed for it. It had a black tar like coat on it that lasted three times as long as linseed which is what I've been using for years. But the linseed only lasts a year, by my experience. I am guessing he made his black tar-paint by...

How to turn a half ton into a 3/4 ton?

Thanks but I already priced the parts I need and it comes to about 300 from LMC. The one piece floor is 770. It's not that much of the floor pan, its also the rocker panels inside and out as well as some of the square tubing underneath the floor butting to the rockers. Ill get a picture of...

How to turn a half ton into a 3/4 ton?

I'm not going to swap differentials but I'm willing to swap the cabs. If I do end up replacing the bad body panels I'll take my cab off first and lay it on one side at a time on tires and weld standing up. As I recall both sides need inner and outer rockers and some floor and those short...

How to turn a half ton into a 3/4 ton?

I read on. a sticky somewhere, maybe this forum, that the 10s and 20s are the same frame but the 30s are larger but not thicker metal. However I am more inclined to swap the cab out, probably just as easy or easier.

How to turn a half ton into a 3/4 ton?

I have a K20 truck with a very rotted floor and floor framing and there's a half ton for sale with a good body, what would i have to swap out to make the half ton a 3/4? I'm thinking the rear springs and differentials, anything else? Thanks

    Under bed Fuel Tank

I got a tank off a Suburban and put it under the bed behind the cab. Didn’t need to weld anything. It has an oak flatbed so I cut out part of the bed and dropped it in. I did a lot of drilling underneath and made some special brackets. I put sticky rubber on the two sheet metal slings that...

Manual choke won't work right on 79 Rochester 3GC carb

I opened them to show it was a four barrel. I'm probably going to rebuild the engine or put my 292 in it so I guess it's going to be sitting for a while because I've got a few other projects to do this winter. It's going to be a big job because I need to swap the tranny and T case out and...

Manual choke won't work right on 79 Rochester 3GC carb

Thanks, I don’t have one but I’ll order from them if I order. I was looking at the 2GC pics on EBay and see they are 2 barrel, well I have a 4 barrel, but the two probly gets better mileage? Guess I need an intake too now. Did they put 4 barrels on stock?

Manual choke won't work right on 79 Rochester 3GC carb

Sorry for the late response, been busy. Thanks for all the great information, it’s this kind of help that keeps me interested in this truck. I haven’t been able to drive it enuf to know if it uses oil (3rd gear is out) or even do a leak down test but I think I’ll go ahead and get a good 2GC...

Manual choke won't work right on 79 Rochester 3GC carb

Not the one I bought but I might get that LMC one, I don't have the truck here but it looks good. Didn't know about Classic industries, I'll write that one down, looks amazing

Manual choke won't work right on 79 Rochester 3GC carb

My 79 with a 350 had a automatic choke that had been butchered up so bad I put a manual choke on it. But it's not working too good and was hoping somebody could give me a tip or two on how to get it set up right. The main problem is the outer shield on the cable doesn't have anything to mount...

    Crazy Air Compressor Idea

I rebuilt two 1957 Ingersoll Rand compressors, for a combined cfm of 40. One was 17 the other a 23. I ran a hose from one to the other with a check valve in it. It ran my blaster with a 3/16 nozzle good enough but another 10 or 20 cfm’s would have been best. There’s a company in Cal. that...

    Crazy Air Compressor Idea

That might have been a Smith. I used to have one, it worked really good but I couldn’t find a carb for it so I scrapped it. Now I wish I had it, as it really was reliable. Had a Ford 289 I think. I might just see if I can find one on EBay. I thought it was too complicated to fix it if...

Need a inline fuel pump for Carbed 350, what brand/ part?

Ricko, I did follow Grit dog’s advice from # 7 and 8. # 5 was my post. Sorry I misunderstood your post # 11, which #14 clarified, but I decided not to check the amount of wear on the lobe because (a) That plate was glued down too good and (b) it was too darn cold. And I didn’t need to use...

Need a inline fuel pump for Carbed 350, what brand/ part?

Rusty Nail read my posts. I said I heated a brand new pump. It had no fuel in it. Your other false assumption was that heat caused the leak. If you had read my post you would know the leak was around the threaded line going to the carb. I only heated the other two ports. Don’t make...

Need a inline fuel pump for Carbed 350, what brand/ part?

For the record: putting the timing mark on the balancer up can put the cam in either of two positions since the cam only makes one revolution to every two the crank makes. So if the mark is up and the pump isn’t close in, turning the crank one more revolution will put the cam where you want it...

Need a inline fuel pump for Carbed 350, what brand/ part?

Hey Rusty Nail, you’ve been putting out BS on this. I tried your “ force it” method long before you suggested it because it has sometimes worked on other motors. However the fact is that when the cam lobe is high on the lever the bolts don’t even reach the holes. If you used longer bolts...

    31 gallon tank conversion pictures

Nice. My 79 had no spare tire hanger. Would have grabbed the Z struts the tank on the 75 burb had hung from if I would have put it there. Might later. Where did you put the spare?
