    88 Caprice Classic Wagon

It should be a 200R4. No BOP bolt pattern 700R4. When the B wagons went to the Olds 307 in early '86, no more Chevy powered wagons or 700s until the new body.

Loud Bang, something broke, then bad vibration in park or driving

We had a Big 10 do that when it was fairly new at my family's business. Left a big dent upward in the hood!

85 C20 LWB eight lug bolt pattern compatible late model chevy

No fitment issues on my 2WD at all. My C20 does have HD brakes. I've got tires on it now (LT225 75 R16, IIRC) that are within 1% of the original 8.75/16.5 tires.

Makes sense, the EGTs from that setup could be staggering.

Someone has that monstrosity for sale on our local CL. I imagine the manifolds ran shockingly hot.

    Mystery valve... came out 78 400 th350

Computer Control Command is the GM name for the electronic feedback fuel system starting (U.S. Federal emissions) with cars in 1981 (similar for Cali in 1980). Heavy Duty emissions is kind of a misnomer. They were easier to meet standards, for higher GVW trucks that were phased in over the...

    Mystery valve... came out 78 400 th350

That's from a CCC system, or from a truck with HD emissions with the little controller box on the firewall (possibly).

    AC HELP NEEDED..

Here is the sadistic GM sealing washer chart. I had to fix a leaking O-ring (the swtich port) on my R4 this year. Surprisingly, NAPA had a listing for that particular O-ring and the yellow and green (IIRC) sealing washers I needed. Additionally, an old A6 compressor would have value to some...

If you still have a good A6 compressor, I can't say enough good about the double lip shaft seal that can be installed in place of the ceramic shaft seal and 'bird cage' assembly (as well as later single lip seals). It's funny that GM finally came out with a great front seal that fits compressors...

85 C20 LWB eight lug bolt pattern compatible late model chevy

I had to go to the Boise and Nampa stores both to get 32 of them. I was shocked they had the SAE threads for the studs and the external thread that fit the matching center caps. The had them readily in the lug nut bins they sell for replacements. This was back in 2009. They are a 7/8 inch hex...

Thermostat opening and closing to much..

At least it reads something. Your oil pressure gauge of that vintage Ford has a resistor across the back, and it is tied to an warning light oil pressure switch (even says so in the shop manual). Took 2 tries for me with different older sending units to make the gauge imitate the mechanical...

Cheap thermostats can cycle like crazy too. I only buy OEM or 'high accuracy' units now.

    What is this?

It looks like a TVS to me as well, as described. It looks like the larger fitting for a water jacket, but it appears low on the block where the oil galley is on the L6. The 49 state 250s were really odd and vacuum nightmares without the CCC or EST systems in the last years of production (for...

    Help! Carburetor on 250 I-6

You aren't kidding at all there. The same style, first generation Multitec injectors are also used in the Buick 90 degree V6s. Random misfires and ones that short out hot, killing the engine, but 'unshorting' when they cool off are awesome. Since it is multiple port and not sequential, it kills...

    Help! Carburetor on 250 I-6

Sad but true :) I will keep my eye out for the W-body sensor. I've gotten some requests elsewhere I'm trying to fill as well. I can still access 90s vintage stuff here in the desert (sometimes older too) that people haven't seen in years in many areas of the country.

    Help! Carburetor on 250 I-6

I like the way you guys think! My intent was also to keep CFM and fuel flow more comparable to the original design for my unmodified 292 (though it does have the later HUGE outlet exhaust manifold) for maximum efficiency and drive-ability. I chose the odd, smaller 2V version of the GM TBI (3.1...
