    where to buy exhaust pipe?

you can buy from the cab over the axle and exit behind the rear wheel in 2 1/2" flowmaster on ebay for $135 duals just find a site that takes an offer otherwise $144. plug in your mufflers and you only need 2 custom bends from your hedders to the mufflers.

83' K1500 power plant build help needed.

i can already hear honky cong groaning, but forget about hp numbers and concentrete on torque. find an un bored 400 sbc, build it stock (dished pistons) or flat tops using mid grade gas. rv cam and your choice if carb. you should be able to do this soup to nuts for around $2,000. all the power...

    Another crossmember question

you dont say if both sides are a problem or only the passenger side because it is higher. i got a second crossmember, cut it in half and used both driver sides to get good clearance. plenty of room now, although the hedders on my truck dont come come back that far, the pipe was going to be too...

Can I add a electric choke?

while we are on the topic of electric choke, i have a new quadrajet built by SMI that has electric choke. i want to know the best way to power the choke. any comments? it was custom built for my 72 k5 and just have not gotten around to install it but now is the time to get it done. i never had...

    350 to 400 small block

you are going to need a vortec intake to match the heads i rarely see them on clist about $150-$180 new. i think sticking with the 350 is your best low budget option.

    350 to 400 small block

on a budget, a new flat tappet cam, used vortec heads, and new or used vortec intake would really wake up that 350. that could be done on a weekend assuming the bottom end is sound. a roller cam set up is going to be pricey ($800)?

    350 to 400 small block

i dont think he wants to take the truck off the road for an extended time. sounds like he wants to build another engine and then do the swap. if the core is sound, a bore and crank grind is all the machining he should need, he can clean up the heads himself. the clearance issues and machine work...

    350 to 400 small block

i know honky kong and i dont see eye to eye on the 400 sbc, but i love them.i have had great sucess with 2 of them. all of that other info is spot on and $250 for a rebuildable core is fair (i paid $125 for my 406) . take a look at northern auto parts performance rebuild kit. i always thought...

    Replacing Harmonic Balancer

one more thing to look for, the pulley is pressed with a flange that fits into the balancer opening, if PO hammered on the balancer, the pulley might not sit flat on the balancer. i know because PO of my '65 C2 did exactly that, it would throw a belt at around 5,000 rpm. it finally snapped the...

    Replacing Harmonic Balancer

i'm in agreement with honky kong, either a cracked pulley or a balancer going south. don't wait to fix the problem because if either one lets go you could be replacing the radiator as well. cant believe you are not throwing belts.

    383 Stroker build

danny williver right here in emmaus. talented and reasonable. did the 406 in my 72 k5 and the 360 in the 81 c 10.

    383 Stroker build

my engine builder recommends rotella 10-40 but you will still need break in lube for the new cam.i always add 4oz of cam lube to the oil change for the zinc instead of running something like gibbs or penn oil. be prepared for a life of premium fuel at 11:1. i would consider having an engine...

Rust repair - order of replacement

i used all LMC metal on the 2 squares i fixed ( floors, rockers, inner rockers, supports, and corners) with no issues. there is always going to be some tweaking required here and there. it was 18ga same as original.

Rust repair - order of replacement

don't forget to protect the new metal when you are done. i used eastwood rust encapsulater in all the voids ( rockers, cab support, corners, and the boxed channel that runs across the back of the cab) they sell a 2' flexible hose with a spray nozzle on the end that works perfect to get in those...

    Cam swaps

take the front tires off and let it come down to where the lowest part is about to hit the ground and block it there. that will give you much better access to the engine bay.

    New driveline choice

not exactly a street engine, i guess we are talking about apples and oranges. if i remember correctly this thread started out as a search for a replacement engine on a c 10. daily driver. i see where you get your nickname from.

    New driveline choice

well denver, maybe you didnt properly cool your engine. maybe you just built a turd. i am not talking about 400hp at 6'000 rpm i'm talking about a solid powerful daily driver. power right off idle. torque out the gazoo with out having to go big block and on a reasonable budget. i have had a few...
