    LMC floor panels

they are replacement pans of the same gauge as original. butt weld or flange and fit over the lip. i have used their replacement parts several times with no issues. expect to do some fabrication here and there

    Cowl/Firewall/Floorboard rust

maybe buy a better welder. is this your first build? through the years i always relied on someone to weld after i had done the tedious work of cutting and fitting the new metal in. then about 10 years ago i bought a miller 140 auto set, great move. easy to learn mig and you don't have to rely or...

    How to clean gas tanks

cleaned and painted my tank on my '81 c10 short step. about a month after filling and starting it the tank started leaking. a little over $100 @ LMC truck. probably less from rock auto. money well spent!

Firewall cleanup & paint prep, any tips?

dont forget to reseal the wiper well if you want to have your firewall redo last. there is only a swipe of seam sealer and paint preventing water from getting to that spot welded seam. i use 2 coats of bed liner in that area when i re do them.

76 k5 suspension and brake upgrade

how are the cab mounts? if they are cracked and squishy that could affect the overall feel of the ride.

    Floorboard Thickness

my experience says 18ga i have never seen or heard of 19ga. but that's just me. would be cheaper to buy a hood from the local salvage yard than buy new metal from a retailer. laying fiberglass over a metal floor pan does not seem like a long term solution. there is a certain amount of pride that...

    Header Flange Not True

Which 350 setup would you buy to replace your 305?

no ls for me. on your budget you can buy the base 350 crate, swap the cam,put vortec heads and intake, a carb of your choice and make 350 hp +/- and 350+ torque. check out roadkill garage on youtube as friedburg has done this build and has all of the numbers for you and all of the prices. screw...

    Engine Choices

what are the actual dollar numbers that you have in mind? i have found that it usually takes $5k to $8K to get a barn find right without paint. that is with no return on my hours. if this is a flip you will probably be working for $2 bucks an hour. i just don't think the market is there for...

    Planning summer small block build

there is no external balancing required, but you must use a balancer and flex plate for a 400.

    Planning summer small block build

save your $ on the roller rockers, you will never turn enough rpms to take advantage of them. i have used northern auto parts performance engine kits 3 times, twice on 400's with good results. $472. also keep the stock rods if it is a daily.you will get your choice of cams and flat top...

What is your daily if not square body?

i don't speak Mopar although i do respect the $ the late 60's cars bring. only GM for me. man got a mean sunburn at Carlisle today.

What is your daily if not square body?

i don't know how to post pics and i don't have any kids. have enough trouble programming my tv remote!! it's a #3 driver,#match 250hp,4sp convert.white with 2 tops and black interior and Western (not KH) knockoffs. the block is stock but the top end is not. making about 325hp, way more than the...

Best way to quiet an exhaust

i also went through the entire interior and added as much sound deadening material as i could, including dynapad under the carpet to help with the driveline heat as well as the noise.

Best way to quiet an exhaust

i had the same problem with my k5 and flowmaster 50 series mufflers. i added a pair of resonators. they look like stainless tips but really tone things down and you can keep the rest of your system intact. hedman sells a similar item in a 9" tip for around $40 each

What is your daily if not square body?

'72 K5 blazer is my daily since i went part time and gave back the new F 150. my 81 c 10 will be ready in about a month, then that will be my daily. also try to mix in my '65 c2 , '03ssr and '03 night train

    Help me identify a vibration

i'll just throw this out there because it happened to me and was very hard to find. previous owner had done an engine/trans build/swap and the truck had a tremendous driveline shake. i eventually discovered that the torque converter bolts were mismatched and not of the same weight. maybe not...

    350 to 400 small block

$1800 is completely doable for machine work and a performance rebuild on the 400. check out northern auto parts for their rebuild kits. pick out a cam that makes power lower in the rpm range. you wont get the thump and bump but you will kill it off the line.

    350 to 400 small block

$250 for a complete rebuidable 400 is a fair price i can already hear honky kong groaning but you cant get more torque for the $ anywhere else. put flat tops in it and go to mid grade gas. it won't be a high rpm engine but it will make lots of torque down low where you drive every day.

    Full Coverage Insurance

put the truck and insurance in your name, add your son as a driver, get an appraisal, (about $100) and document a few similar transactions on ebay. there is no need for loyalty in car insurance, shop it around and buy when you are comfortable and the price is right.
