    I would say that the Edelbrock carb should be good, if tuned and jetted properly. You aren't going to gain anything by going to a Holley for a daily driver.     Use the thick, multi layer gaskets or the composite ones. Be prepared to alter your spark plug wires and routing. Maybe just get new ones with 90 deg. boots. Make sure all the wires going to the starter are secured and far away from the headers. Post pictures and let us how it goes.

    If the lock cylinder is worn and wont lock, you can change out the lock cylinder in the original column to make it start with a key.

    A couple of pictures would help us analyze your situation, but it sounds like the hinges are just worn out as per post #17 above. It looks like his hood is nice and tight now that he replaced the hinges with new ones.

    Maybe a ground wire came loose. Make sure that you have a body ground on your engine and battery. Maybe the ignition switch on top of the column is not functioning correctly. That rod can be tricky if its worn or bent. Why did you change the column, and what kind of column did you put in?

    A little "snippin' and tin bangin'" saves you 40 bucks. This truck didnt have anything for rear speakers. I also put some little 4 inch under the dash. They didn't fit perfect cut a few self drilling screws holds them nicely.

    Modify them. What do you have to lose? The good thing about steel is you can always fix it. I had to build my own rear speaker mounts for 6 x 9s. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

    Thanks for all the replies. I have 3 GMCs and 1 Chevrolet trucks. My daily is a GMC. I would say that I like GMC better, probably for most of the reasons listed above.
