    Starting custom dash build.

If anybody insists that aftermarket is garbage… So is the oem core… Wavy and full of extra holes. Did not help the molded foam stay together. Hard to prep for primer and recover. Oh, you WILL hit your finger getting this thing stripped. Either with the stripping wheel (guilty) or the knife...

    Door panel rehab

Daily driver grade? Get a couple cans of Rustoleum bedliner spray, adhesion promoter, and Krylon Fusion color of choice. 1. Scrub the panels with Dawn and a fingernail brush. Repeat until the rinse off is clear. 2. Spray adhesion promoter, follow the working window directions. 3. Spray with...

    1980 Door Speakers

1980 only… Well that’s no fun. What about the rest of us that want door mounted instead of behind the seat…??? Behold, the “borrowed from elsewhere” solution… Keep your door cards as issued, get rid of the horrible dust inducing mess on your lower doors (carpet), and run real speakers instead...

    5 speed 4x4 transmission

RanchWelder, why the sad face? It’s a perfectly servicable 3/4t 5spd, or srw 1t. Just isn’t worth a damn in a c&c dually that weighs close to 8200# by itself, let alone hooked to a gooseneck full of steers. The synchros are way too touchy, even the updated ones meant for gear oil instead of high...

    L31 vs TBI 454 Swap

Based on my Vortec 350 4wd 1t dually, the L31 is basically useless. Needs: Aluminum heads that can support a higher lift cam. It has torque, but no real top end power. If you have a flat tappet cam, good luck… Desperately needs a 4bbl, on a real intake, with normal gaskets. The factory 2pc...

Adding weight and insulation to LMC replacement doors

If you ever order boxes of pre-fab meal kits, save all of the spun plastic insulation. It makes a great sound/temperature changer between door and door card, or over the headliner. Does not hold moisture, so no rust issues from using it. Also works great stuffed into the speaker pockets in the...

    Aftermarket windshield wipers

Cheap ones, remember black and white cans that just said “BEER” on them? These were black on white packages from most likely Walmart.

    Aftermarket windshield wipers

The new wiper blade kit comes with fittings. Break off the pin end, you get an arm with a hole in it. The end of choice from the blade kit includes a snap on J-hook. Clean, simple, fits/works like it was made for the truck, because it is still a stock arm. Done to my wife’s 85 C10 swb -and- my...

    Aftermarket windshield wipers

If you take a pair of pliers to that useless f’n pin style arm end…. You get a perfectly fitting accepts normal modern blades wiper arm. You’re welcome.

    Starting custom dash build.

Tests from 2018 for color change. The burgundy plastic and dash top will be black. The red door inserts will be the snakeskin vinyl (maybe) or a bright facric. The wood/leather were just test pieces, reclaimed pallet scrap and off cuts from something else.

    Starting custom dash build.

Finally just about clear of the ice/snow remnants. Supposed to be back in 60s temps this week. I do everything outside in the yard or driveway, none of my full sized trucks fit in the garage. Vinyl for the dash is the same flat black that Kawasaki, Honda and Harley Davidson use on heavy...

Chevy k10 rally wheel beauty rings

I honestly prefer the O’reilly generic trim ring on my 15x6 C10 wheels. The stock type are overkill. Other good options are ‘40 Ford style ribbed stainless, like on this 16” 1949 Dodge truck wheel. Or the smooth stainless aftermarkets from a stretrod shop.

    Show your daily driver

99 K3500 c&c dually. And no, I don’t trust it as far as I could throw it. Too many electronics.

    5 speed 4x4 transmission

Keep in mind that the newer 4500s have an internal slave cylinder. They don’t have a bottom drain plug, lowest pto bolt, then pull the cover and pump, dip or wipe out the rest. Refilling one is a f’n nightmare. And the 2-3 and 3-2 shift has a huge rpm drop. Sending the 4500 in my 99 K3500...

    Sealing Bed Wood

Okay… 1. Red Oak is -not- for truck beds, rots too quickly. 2. Buy West Marine “wood reverter” epoxy. Can’t recall the actual product name, but is a water thin epoxy that internally plasticizes wood. No air space, no fungal growth. 3. Top coat solely with products designed for wooden boat use...

Trying to find OEM parts for my 1980 Chevy K10 cruise control.

Getting ready to finish carb converting a 92 350 tbi. You’re more than welcome to come pull any/all tbi related out from under the hood. Including the intake that was modified to fit 1970s heads. Free, gratis, on the house… I don’t have time to pull/ship right now. Brighton TN area.

    1984 GMC C10 acquired for $300

We inherited my father in law’s last truck when he passed. Building it for my wife as I can’t stand 2wd, and she prefers it. Literally couldn’t give it away, rust free swb with a 4.3 and topper, so… 8 years later, still piddling around. Truck died at 300k+ miles, no rush to finish. 6/8 drop...

    Which aftermarket LED headlights?

I’d have to pop 1 out and look. Not a priority when the K3500 “pulled a Vortec 350” and died at 22k miles on a fresh engine.

    Which aftermarket LED headlights?

‘99: Very expensive LEDs, new housings. Bright/dim at the correct switch timing. ‘92: Normal Sylvania halogen 9005/9006, 13yo housings. Bright/dim superior to the LED 9005/9006 bulbs. ‘85 with stacked Silverstars has better lighting than either gmt40. 1969 D100, standard round 7” sealed...

    Which aftermarket LED headlights?

We replaced all 4 factory 1985 headlights in 2017. The highs had crapped out around 2013, but really made little difference prior to dying. It took a few months to track down 4 Sylnania Silverstar sealed beams, was before my wife became an online shopping pro. Truck could use all new lighting...

    Rams Horn Manifolds 2 1/2” straight-dump on a 1987 V10 350tbi. Will they fit?

Factory center dump 1985 350 exhaust manifolds. Note the 1960s style power steering pump and starter? Or the 1955-? 265/283 front mount? Again, factory installed 1985 parts… Do you “really” want to backdate your truck “that” far? Just curious… This is the donor 350 for my wife’s 85 C10 swb to...

When to stop trying to fix all body imperfections?

Prepping my wife’s 85 swb for full respray. Was her late father’s last truck, so leaving some of his dents/dings. Sort of… If it will push out inflating a football behind it, good enough.

    Grille Center Molding Refurbishing

If customizing, you can find guitar pick looking automotive wrap grade vinyl online. Will get as close as possible to the guitar pick laminate I’m redoing Lisa’s 85 C10 dash with. The cheap brushed aluminum stock stuff fell off in 2017…

    Th400 deep pan and refresh?

Truck made it 40 years without a transmission service that I know of. And after sitting/being lowered, now has no fluid showing on the stick. I know, truck abuse, we inherited it when my 92 year old father in law died in 2018. Was mothballed to backup status with a permanent plate. Plan to...
