    LED dash light replacements

I bought a bunch of supposedly warm white LED lamps to replace all the bulbs in the panel of the MGB I'm trying to reassemble. Unfortunately I have not had a chance to try them out yet due to spring being my 7 day work weeks. I'm hoping to see how they do in the next week or 2 and if they seem...

86 C20 - Climate control not changing position - cable or vacuum operated?

Also make sure the vacuum is connected in the engine compartment. My 1989 has similar issue (although the A/C doesn't do much anymore) with the routing doors. Turned out the vacuum line ging through the firewall was broken, so none of the diaphrams that move the doors did anything. The heat...

    Stereo

My suspicion is that he little black box with the red/yellow/black(or brown hard to tell in photo) wires going in and out is a form of either short-term rechargable battery or a capacitor, the intent being that you don't lose the clock/programmed stations/EQ settings/etc if you disconnect the...

    Towing with an old truck

I think the biggest challenge with a travel trailer isn't the weight but the frontal surface area/wind resistance. Your engine and transmission will be much happier if you go slower. I've towed a 20 foot 2500 pound sailboat-on-trailer rig 400 miles with a 30 year old truck, also towed a rental...

    Should i or shouldnt i?!!

If you have the means and a place to store/park it then by all means. That interior is way too nice to let get crushed. I don't know if 1977 (based on owners manual visibile on seat) was front wheel drive or not - that could limit your drivetrain choices. I'd also look underneath and make...

    Dual Battery

My biggest concern would be that if that deep-cycle is really dead - if everything else is wired up right and it attempts to charge once the engine is running; will it draw too much current? I always like to have some sort of current limiter or at least a fuse on in the circuit.

    How hard to go backwards?

Yeah it was a whole separate posting about having the teeth chewed up - having to change starters in the car park at work, etc...and being on a 7 day a week work schedule for the past 3 months meant no time to mess with it.

    How hard to go backwards?

Perfect! Once I get it back from the flexplate replacement I'll grab one of those and see what can be worked up. Thanks!!!!

    How hard to go backwards?

Thats handy to know - extending wires isn't that hard. What year did GM go away from using the floor switch? If I know what was the last year for the floor switch I can just buy the part for that model year.

    How hard to go backwards?

Fortunately the wires don't go up the column, only the actuator rod - the switch itself is actually under the dash, pretty easily accessible.

    How hard to go backwards?

My 1989 Suburban has the high-low beam switch mounted at the base of the column with the actuator rod going up to the turn signal/wiper/cruise multifunction lever. The rod does not seem to be connected to anything at the upper end anymore, I suspect the plastic has probably broken. The switch...

Old school Pioneer head unit, should I or should I not???

I always liked Pioneer units. I had one (badly installed by barely-post-highschool myself) in a 1984 Jeep that was rock solid. It was old enough that it was just AM/FM/CD - no bluetooth or front aux or USB. I still have the Jeep and the Pioneer didn't power on last time I had it running (last...

    Unlock barn doors from inside

My 1989 does not have any way to unlock/open the back doors from the inside (although if you take the trim panel off the mechanism is easy to see and manipulate). I contemplated putting something as basic as a rope "T" handle like you'd find on a mower through a grommet in the trim panel - if I...

What would you pay for this truck?

I watch Puddin's Fab Shop on Youtube when I can. and he had a short series of videos on doing exactly that - had a damaged longbed and he cut/welded/reinforced the frame and then cut down the longbed sides to match what the measurements of a factory shortbed to make everything look right. Did...

1991 Suburban 3/4 ton: TBI to Holley Sniper conversion - stupid, or worth it?

I looked at the megasquirt - it seems like a cool idea but unless I was seeing things completely wrong - they send you a bare circuit board and you have to source/assemble the whole thing from zeo yourself - the odds of me having a functional ANYTHING after that would be pretty slim to none.
