    My 84 sat for 9 years without being cranked. I put 2 batteries in it and drove it home. Didn’t take long for me to get the old 6.2 going.

    They even made auto hubs for the Dana 60 after 81. Here is a NOS set I have (one has a Ford cover, but other than that, they are the same) And from the 1981 pickup brochure

    Main thing about automatic hubs is, don’t put too much grease in them, just need a small amount. I think overgreasing them is the reason they got such a bad name.

    On that era of 454, we always added closed chamber heads to get better performance. The flat top pistons that era combined with the open chamber 117-119cc heads (781/290/236 aka peanut port) produces a true compression ratio of about 7.7-7.9:1

    Last year was the first time I had ever went to the monument. Know several that helped the night/morning after the crash. My sister still has tickets to the concert they were flying to Baton Rouge to perform.

    Remember that a GM Dana 60 only uses 3 u-bolts to hold it to the springs. The inner side by the pumpkin should have two studs or bolts.
