Adding oil to a 10 bolt axle

Where is the filling location? And how much oil should I add?

    Broken backing plates

I am replacing the wheel cylinders on my repaired backing plates, and I had to use a cold chisel to cut free the rusty bolts. Well I managed to cut through the bolts, but I also blew out the bolt holes on the backing plate. The hole is now open to the large hole through which the wheel cylinder...

    Drum brake backing plate repair.

http://www.astrosafari.com/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=6030 I found this in a search to answer my question. This guy uses a stick welder. Though I think I'll just make the new plates work, and worry about welding another day.

    Drum brake backing plate repair.

You know Marty, that would be an ideal repair to me. I don't weld though I'd like to start; this looks like an easy project to begin on. I have been looking at a 100A mig/fluxcore welder for body/frame work. Will flux core welding work on this job? Or is arc welding better?

    Drum brake backing plate repair.

Good to know, does anyone know of a big name retailer that sells it? I've looked but can only find it online.

    Are brake backing plates side-specific?

Hi the oem parts aren't interchangeable left & right. If you look up my thread "brake backing plate repair" you'll see a link to the two different oem backing plates. I bought a universal fit replacement from autozone by mistake. They will still fit but I have to drill holes for the ebrake cable...

    Drum brake backing plate repair.

Thanks for that man that's what I should've bought!! I have already drilled out the universal backing plates, though so there's no going back. I hope they do just fine, might have to fiddle with the shoe rests but I haven't checked them yet. I just no crap fills my drums because of extra space...

    Rear Shock Suggestions *STOCK*

Monroe actually calls their gas adjustable shocks a "premium product" though they have an even better "sensatrack" shock that correspondingly more expensive. Not worth it on my budget, but 200$....

    Rear Shock Suggestions *STOCK*

I just bought some basic Monroe gas-adjustable shocks for the rear and have the fronts coming from amazon. I paid 75$ at a local carquest, and ~55$ on amazon for the same pair. They have really improved the ride, smoothing out bumps and eliminating wheel bounce on rough Michigan roads. Can't...

    Brake Drums Shopping

Have you looked at your star wheel adjuster? It can stick and as your shoes and drums wear it won't close the gap up. This could lead to brake loss. Or could be old brake hoses expanding, or a leak somewhere.

    K10 steering box

Went to acdelco.com. http://parts-catalog.acdelco.com/catalog/catalog_search.php I found a couple seal kits that have the "side cover seal" or whatever its name is on your vehicle. Part #'s 36-35034 and 36-351120 both have seals to fit your trucks side cover. I believe its the large...

    K10 steering box

http://www.someotherplace.com/info/FSM3B_11.JPG This is a service manual for a 95 tahoe I believe, but a steering gear is a steering gear. In fig. 10, "B" points to the side cover and in fig. 11, "C" points to the adjuster nut on top of the side cover. I believe you are talking about the side...

Rear disc brakes on the cheap

I think gm has used 6x5.5 for all of its products. As for the rear discs fitting, I would reckon its possible but only with fab work. I have read this thread and it got me interested in doing my own 6 lug rear disc swap. But I couldn't find any sort of bolt in or weld in caliper mounts to make...
