    New guy here...77 c20 292 NEED HELP

Whatever you do, don't ever let anyone talk you into swapping that 292 for a V8! I had a '77 with the same engine/tranny and I could run with the BBC's on the trails and even surpassed them when the going got really bad. That 292 is only about 20 lb. ft. of torque less than the 454's of that era...

    ‘79 wipers won’t “park”

My buddies '79 didn't "park" the wipers but my '77 and '78 did. Has to do with the motor and/or switch, IIRC. ETA: Meaning I agree with SirRonyno0! @nd Edit: Meant to say, "Oh no, I bought a Cardone unit last week for the S10 I inherited from my dad. Now I find out their junk! That's the way...

Potential 14B FF I'm looking at thoughts needed

Back in the day people tried to get the 14 FF from under vans as they were the same width as the front end. The reason the front is wider than the back is it is supposed to cut down on turning radius, but I can't confirm as I don't know the turn radius on a van. The vans should have a shorter...

    Sm465 knocking while in reverse

This probably was a once in a lifetime thing but my automatic did that only in reverse. Turned out the bellhousing bolts weren't tightened all the way. Worth a check.

    Lifted,, but how ...

A couple years back I ordered nerf bar steps for my K5 from Rock Auto in SS for less than half the normal going rate. Don't know if that would be something you'd be interested in or if they're even still available but might try them to see if they have what you want. Just a suggestion.

    Best Cordless Tools?

I have 18V DeWalt tools also. When the batteries died I went on Amazon and bought "off" brand batteries for half the price of DeWalts. Check the reviews carefully. THe batteries I bought work great. Just an idea to save money.

    454+th350 strange rattle

Odds are this isn't going to be it but my K5 rattled only in reverse. Thinking it was in the tranny I took it to shop. Rattled next time I drove it. My son got under it and discovered the tranny wasn't bolted firmly to the rear of the engine. Tightened loose bolts and no more rattle. Worth a...

WANTED: Trailer Wire Harness and Mount for '88 K5

Like title says, I'm looking for the stock trailer wiring and the plastic "plug" bracket that attaches to the hitch for an '88 K5 Silverado. (Mine has a super heavy white ground wire if that helps.) I'm guessing the plastic bracket was an OEM part as well. (?) Shipped to 45431. thanks for...

    visor worth anything?

Caps and bolts are on Ebay for under $10 with free shipping. Supposed to be exact replacements, at least for full size Lund visors. Saw them several times before buying (just needed one bolt and cover) but they look like the originals as far as I can tell. Caps come black so you'll have to paint...

I could choke a GM engineer!

A lot has to do with young engineers, in my experience. A young man that married into my family was explaining to me how he'd been tasked with designing a part for a commercial airline engine. He wanted to show off his capabilities and designed (over designed) a piece that was incredibly...

running boards, nerf bars, step bars !!!

You might want to look at Rock Auto. I purchased nerf bars for my K5 as they were heavily discounting Square body items. I got the stainless steel bars for less than half price of other sites. Not sure if they will still have them as I purchased last year but would be worth looking into, IMO.

Have no idea what these tubes are!

Boy do I feel silly! When I saw the first picture I thought, "Why, that's the line for your windshield washers." (Because of the angle.) Duh!

Bringing shine back to my rims!

I'm in a similar boat...will these methods remove the existing clear coat? Or is there another method needed to remove the clear coat prior to polishing? The factory rims have tiny "ridges" as in machine marks. Any way to remove clear coat, polish and retain those fine marks? Not trying to...

Too much sh** to clean by hand?

We used to add a quart of kerosene till warmed up good, drain, repeat. Cheap oil to start till clean then good oil after that. Just what we used to do in the old days but that was when oil was cheap and synthetic oils weren't even around then. Still run a good oil filter (no Fram filters, ever!)...
