Yeah. I am leaning that way. I honestly wish I could get all the stains out of the original carpet. Otherwise, its in pretty good shape. But, it has multiple, pretty bad, decades old stains that I cant get out no matter how hard I try.
I agree with the other folks that are saying to check your grounds. It may be worth checking the dash ground bus which is behind the cluster/above the parking brake. I had a single wire break on mine and it cause some crazy behavior from the lights and blinkers.
OC samples showed up this weekend. The difference between the Essex and regular cut pile is less significant than I originally thought—but there is a difference.
The depth of the pile is pretty much identical between the two as is the texture of the fibers (I had expected more depth and...
The upcharge is not insignificant. But, I would pay as much or more for something like dynamat if I didn't do mass backing--and that is a lot of added work. Add to that many reviews suggest it is easier for an upholstery noob (like me) to work with the mass backed carpet, I think I am pretty...
I think the next step on my burb will be all new carpets. I am leaning towards the mass backed, ACC, Essex carpets--but no decision has been made yet. I would love to hear about and see pics of the carpet kits y'all used in your suburbans. What did you go with, and why? What would you have...
My daily is a 2018 VW Golf R. It is the first (and only) new car I have ever owned. If I had a million dollars, I would still probably daily-drive this car. I love it that much.
@TotalyHucked, the Z06 was wrecked (by my buddy who built it :Big Laugh: ). He slid it under a bus and damaged the B pillar and roof—so it wasn’t really rebuildable, but mechanically fine.
The first car that started my “car guy” disease was an SN95. I will always have a soft spot for them.
The under construction "Rusty Banana" post by @gilby959798 was this inspiration for this thread (if you haven't seen his build yet, check it out. He is doing it right). He had some cool mustangs in the background of his squarebody build photos. I suspect folks here have other non-square...
Concur with Finkaire. I love the retrosound in my square. It does everything I want it to do--and its bluetooth connection is more stable and reliable than some of my modern cars.
Thanks everyone. Yall were correct: it was a ground issue. I managed to fix that problem. It was the one loose ground wire at the ground bus (photographed above).
Interestingly, the retrosound radio is still dead (and is truly dead—I tested it on the bench). So, I think the radio really did...
I already had the cluster out by the time I read your post. Sorry. I’ll try it once I get everything back together. Thanks so much for helping me brainstorm. I really appreciate it.
