    I swapped small block for big block on a 1985 2 wheel drive and a 1987 4 wheel drive. I used Energy Suspension in both clam shells and had only minor irritation when installing both engines. I don't believe it is the small block clam shells. Focus your attention on the other parts.

    Chassis brackets and rubber motor mounts.

    the old switch was bad when I tested it. My mistake was installing the same switch that my 85 takes, thinking they are both carbs so the same switch should work. They dont.
