my old 1 ton decided she didnt need the 6.2 anymore..too much for a total rebuild so we went with a 68 327 truck motor delivering more power and torque and fuel of course but happy so far with the exchange
My 85 3500 dually came stock with a 6.2 and turbo 400 and gets descent mileage if i dont push it too hard. she also packs a good load. the only addition i would like to make would be to bolt on a GearVendor behind the tranny and give this old girl a 6speed built specifically for this truck
Depending on how much you want to spend on saving fuel....why not try Gear Vendors drive. Bolts onto a T400 and gives you six gears insteaD OF 3.

A buddy gave me some 16"s off of his 08 chevy dually..stock tires they were 215/85/16 My 86 dually runs 235/85/16 but with spacers so tires dont rub with a load on the truck...with 215"s on i wouldnt have that problem of rubbing
Now i dont wanna sound silly but how do you remove my grille without breaking it. 1986 GMC Sierra 1ton. i removed 5 small screws across the top but plastic keeps it from coming out. horn behind it isnt working
