1977-78 door trim accent piece - Western Scroll

The sad part is that Burb will probably be smashed and sold for scrap within a week… There was an ‘84 in the same yard with a great condition interior (tinted windows all around) but my truck was at the body shop and I couldn’t remember what I needed (I know-rookie!)..by the time I checked up...

1977-78 door trim accent piece - Western Scroll

I have never seen it myself…Burb body was totally rusted out but otherwise complete..I went back today to grab some fasteners, plastic, etc I was missing and interior parts were complete aside from someone snatching the emblem off the dash trim

1977-78 door trim accent piece - Western Scroll

I found a 1980 Suburban with the scroll trim in a junkyard a couple days back...however this one is all electric and you look like you have manual?

    GMC Hood Ornament

Next problem...does anyone know where to source the gaskets for the hood ornament/emblems? It looks like a 1mm piece of plastic/clear vinyl I could probably trace and cut, unless it's available somwhere? I also need the set for the roof rack, which I would assume I could cut and trace from the...

    Door panel resto- backyard style

Much appreciated! I like the Saddle Tan color better than the previous one I did.. a lot "richer" There used to be a Carquest close to me that carried a full line of SEM products and you could go buy a can to check it out in the real world..I can't find a local supplier anymore. I think the...

    Door panel resto- backyard style

I attached some stainless screw studs with JB weld on some of the door trim pieces that I always check after I slam the door shut, haha I’m not sure if those are the same clips as the one I had but I’m done with the mold if you want to give it a shot

    Door panel resto- backyard style

Quick update... Here is the finished product...it's not factory correct nor a perfect restoration but much better than what was there! I changed the color to SEM Saddle Tan which almost matches the new upholstery perfectly. On another note, I was missing one of the bottom retaining clips. I...

    GMC Hood Ornament

You would think with all the advances in polymers/epoxies/paints that they could make a 2"x2" piece of plastic that would survive atmospheric re-entry on the space shuttle for under $10 these days...

    GMC Hood Ornament

Halfway there...and livin' on a prayer... I used some clear Elmer's glue with a drop of dish soap and food coloring to "liquid mask" the lettering... Why is it when you see the repop at $XX you say "Are you crazy??!" and then after you have way too much time restoring the original you say...

    GMC Hood Ornament

Quick update...I was able to clean the plastic up pretty well with plastic polish made for headlight lenses... Now the trick would appear to be getting the paint applied around the lettering without bleeding in..do you think the hot glue masking would work for the plastic? I also thought it...

    Door weatherstrip

That would probably help! The door side lip of the weatherstripping is below the top edge of the door, is it supposed to sit on top? If so, I think I would need to bend the mounting tabs towards the outside of the door more?

    GMC Hood Ornament

I hear ya Hucked....but where did the red go?! You have owned it since new? I have seen emblems that are still red with a lot worse sun damage done to the plastic? It's definitely the backside of silver paint on the plastic and the GMC logo feels like silicone..
