    Air conditioning

No problem Brandon. Flushing each component can only be done when the system is open. While you have the lines disconnected from the compressor, disconnect the other ends too and then remove and flush. Flush the evaporator and condensor etc. When you go back with the new accumulator, keep...

    Air conditioning

Brandon: Your truck probably doesn't have a receiver/drier. Probably just an accumulator. Saw that in the diagram I sent you.

    Air conditioning

Hey Brandon check out this link for a diagram of an automotive air conditioner: http://www.red-dragon-airconditioning.com/www.red-dragon-airconditioning.coms/info.php?p=11 The condenser is located close to the radiator. The evaporator is on the firewall/behind your dash. You'll see the...

    Cruise Control

Good deal. How much was the part? Can you replace just the diaphragm or is the cc unit all packaged together? I'll check that while I am checking the brake switch and fuses as I was advised.

    Cruise Control

Thanks. Is there a fuse for the brake light switch? Or did you mean to say "a bad fuse OR a bad brake light switch". Sorry... I'm learning so not quite picking up on everything quite yet. I can pull all of the fuses and check them either way. Good advice.

My mechanic is also a friend so we did a "lunch and learn". He let me use his machine and supervised to make sure I was doing it right. Occasionally, he'll let me use a bay in his shop to tackle things I want to save some money on. I still pay him a small fee for his time. I know Harbor...

    Cruise Control

It's.... not working. Vacuum is good so I think it is the cruise control "unit". Just wanted to know if anyone knows of common problems. Just replace the control unit and presto?

    Air conditioning

Great point. An update... the reman compressor I installed locked up. Pulled vac again, installed another reman compressor (oiled first and turned), charged, and didn't get any cold air. Pulled vac again and removed the orifice tube and saw that it was completely blocked with slime and metal...

Whats you gas mileage on your squarebody truck?

Averaging 15 mpg... about half on the highway at 65 mph... the rest in town. That's with the AC running... ain't bad for a 26 year old truck with a 305 and quadrajet. :)

    Air conditioning

Thanks. I bought this truck a few months ago. It had been converted to R134 back in 97. I do have a "pancake" compressor... hopefully the rebuild was good quality and it will last for a while. I am told that they tend to work harder since they are so small. I put good quality synthetic PAG...

I'll be 34 tomorrow (6/25)... guess we also share a birthday in addition to appreciation of older trucks. Happy birthday.

    Air conditioning

Thank you! I did find some that were prefilled but wasn't sure of the difference. The one I bought had a bright orange sticker to warn that it needed to be filled with oil before installation. For some reason, I couldn't find a kit with all of the stuff for a decent price. So I pieced it...

    Air conditioning

Gotta have it in South Georgia... Finally got the parts (and guts) to replace some of the AC components on my truck. Fairly mechanically inclined but I was still intimidated. But, I shouldn't have been. It was straight forward and almost easy. Listed out are the parts I bought: Reman AC...
