AC conversion onto non AC cab using Duramax swap
Looking for info/advice for swapping AC into a non AC cab, what all is needed when using all factory 04 Duramax components on the engine. Just looking for what all would be needed to make it work inside the '87 cab. Thanks in advance!- Randall12v

LOL just realized I had this going. Sold the '81 within a week of bringing it home. Also an offer I couldn't refuse. Now for the truck I WONT sell...bought a 1980 Chevy K30 former rescue truck with 15k original miles. Haha I got a great deal on this truck and have the 400 small block pulled...- Randall12v

K30 Duramax - Body or Engine/Trans Swap?
Bought a regular cab 4x4 04.5 LLY Duramax and going to buy a '86 Silverado cab this weekend. Going to try to make this wet dream reality sooner than later. For now plan is to swap body onto 04 chassis. Have a lead for a nicer condition 06 frame, so may use that to get cab measurements started...- Randall12v

LB7 Swap
There's a few places you can get aftermarket wiring harnesses for lb7. PPE, BTDieselWorks, etc. they can also modify factory harness for what all you'll need.- Randall12v

That's kind of the predicament I'm in...it's a true survivor if you want to call it that. Original paint code was midnight black, but it was a Pierce Mfg. fire truck with the skyjacker lift and red/white paint from the Pierce factory...paint code and stamp stickers in cab. I plan to pull the box...- Randall12v

What's people's opinions on value of engine/trans swaps in square bodies? Say take out 400 small block and th400 and replace with something more modern and powerful...LS, Cummins, Duramax, etc. For example...On a 1980 K30 Cab Chassis truck with no rust and ~16k original miles...will it...- Randall12v

235/85/16 tires
Anyone know of good tires in this size 235/85/16? Not looking to spend a fortune either... Figured I'd keep this new '81 GMC K2500 fairly stock looking. Figured these tires would be best for stock 16's.- Randall12v

figured I'd update this... I sold the '84, 3-4 weeks after bringing it home. A guy made me an offer I could not refuse. 5.9l Cummins swap into a lucky Square Body
a 2nd gen dodge 12v intercooler will fit in a 80's chevy... I sold an old spare to my coworker who put one in his K30 for his VE pumped Cummins. An air to water intercooler would also work if you want something smaller...but then you'll need a pump, and water/ice setup.- Randall12v

pre 94 VE pumped engines are good runners...but always be limited for higher hp. capabilities. 94-98 ppump engines are much better if you have higher hp/tq goals. So many more aftermarket parts readily available for these engines. Injectors, pumps, etc. Don't rule the 24v VP44 engines out...- Randall12v
