Wiring diagram needed
I'm pretty sure you have fixed your problem, but for those out there who haven't, I had to change out my wiring when I switched motors so I went to the "Auto zone" web site and pulled up the wiring diagram for the original diesel and the wiring for the 350 I was putting in and had no problems- pawofginger

steering column question at tilt joint
If you have not fixed your problem by now, you can find "Illustrated tilt column disassembly" by Oliver Scholz by putting in his name on your search engine. I followed it and was able to rebuild my entire tilt column for my 85 Silverado.- pawofginger
