Do what you just checked for a pressurized crankcase! Any time I get a leaker to work on, I seal off all outside access from the crankcase then I use the oil dipstick tube to put the air hose to it! I use a regulator set at 5-10 psi max. Listen with a piece of hose for any/all hissing. check...
From page #1 of the original problem: (Alt sense wire cooked) My first thought was that the voltage regulator was shot! As the "sense" wire does just that, sense the voltage of the "at use" voltage of the main electrical system in the truck. This wire only tells the regulator what the operating...

Solution found! ! ! ! After three days I was able to finally fix the leak at the timing cover to pan joint! I was able to get a good part # for the 1 piece gasket with the one needed hole for the Psg side dipstick. Its an "Engine Tech" part # OC350-R this is only for the Right hand dipstick...
Felpro os34510T This is the one with two dipstick holes and does NOT seal on the Dr side rail.
The felpro 1881 would work?? but is cut out for a stroked block removing 1/3 of the sealing surface, not good in my eye.
The one I just removed (Black silicone rubber) has "NPC1" "MN3981" cast...
ORRR: opposite side of the block. DRIVER SIDE It doesn't have a boss extending out to support the additional hole in the gasket. Any part nos. Would be very helpful

Thanks

The quick and dirty test of the HEI dist is to turn on the ign to run position then hold a "soldering GUN " to the side close to the pickup coil this WILL provide a STEADY HOT spark if all is well with the dist!

Put a dwell meter on and I'll bet that the dwell is at MAX all the time. (dwell should change with RPM) Yes it will run however it will cook the coil quicker than you can say "oh ****"!!
