Hooker Exhaust Manifolds- I think I like em!

Not an LS, but I used 'em on my 350; perfect fit, and zero issues.

    Paint RPO help

I looked through every paint code reference I have, and nothing even close to 8099. I'm guessing it's a code used in Canadian-built trucks. That said, you should be able to visually match the 2 colors to existing samples on different sites. My go-to is usually this one...

    Hub Bore Question

What I've got: '85 C10, 2wd short bed. Looking at wheels, and have a question about hub bore (I did search; no luck). Has anyone actually measured the hub diameter? I know many wheel manufacturers spec it at 83.82mm, but others like Rocket Racing come in at 78mm, and are supposedly a guaranteed...

Miss - No Load Driving & Reversing

The guy that did the engine install for me had all of the rockers adjusted way too tight when I picked it up, and it idled really bad. That told me despite his years of wrenching on SBC's, he didn't know crap. Took it to another shop where the guy and his father both have real-world experience...

Miss - No Load Driving & Reversing

OK; good to be back. First, the dog got sick; she got better. Then, the wife got sick (not Covid); she got better. Then, I dropped a brake rotor on my middle finger; good enough to type again, but ugly to look at. First thing I did was go out one night and fire up the engine with the lights...

Miss - No Load Driving & Reversing

I need some help brainstorming a problem, rather than tossing random parts at it. '85 C10, with a new Chevy 350/260 long block. At idle, it's smooth as can be. Drop it in gear, same. Accelerate lightly, and I begin to hear a random miss; don't really feel it bucking or anything, I just hear it...

Engine Cranks Then Doesn't - Ignition?

Thank you very much for the info. As luck would have it, I have a brand new "Tahoe" starter - HTPM - in the garage, just in case. All of your assumptions about the battery condition, cables, good grounds, etc. are accurate. I'll go over everything in the daylight tomorrow, though.

Wow. Factoring in lunch, that's 4 work days to swap an engine. That is beyond steep...

Engine Cranks Then Doesn't - Ignition?

OK; my new to me '85 C10 is sitting in the garage inop. Here's the story: Just bought the truck this week. Had it towed home (torrential rain) and parked it in the garage. Was out with it Thursday and let it run for about 15 minutes and burn off any moisture left. It has no choke, so had to...

    Engine Swap - Labor Hours

Well, nice day today; high 40's-low 50's, sun, breeze. Great day to run the truck and check the cooling system for any loss and bubbles. No choke, so cranked it over twice for 3 seconds, 3rd try, nothing. No hot wires, no smoke, 1 month old 850 cca battery, tight connections, just dead. Lights...

    Engine Swap - Labor Hours

OK; here's the backstory. Bought an '85 C10 shortbed earlier this week. It ran and drove, but the virtual rust free body was the main selling point. The engine is a bit cobbled - clapped out Edelbrock carb with an adapter to a cast iron intake, plug wires zip-tied (yes, all 4 per side) tightly...

    Extremely High Idle...

It's before TDC... Good find by the mechanic on your rockers being adjusted too tight (and loose). He was probably referring to one of the pushrods being so tight, it wouldn't spin freely like they all should. Sounds like you're heading in the right direction!

    Extremely High Idle...

You've got multiple issues here, but none are a deal breaker. First, download these: http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive/misc/tech-center/install/1000/1406.pdf http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive/misc/tech-center/install/1000/1404_manual.pdf You mentioned the electric fuel pump firing up. I...

    Carb Issues - PLEASE HELP

Is there any way you can post a picture of the carb or the spec sheet that came with it? That eliminates some guesswork on this end. Also, you mention Quick Fuel recommending an idle of 1500-2000RPM. That would be the idle with a choke engaged, not your warmed-up idle.
